RPI Hockey 2014-2015: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

My first game was during 84-85 season. My buddy took me, telling me how good "these guys" were. After one period, it was Dartmouth 1 RPI 0. He told me not to worry, "Oates and Carter can score whenever they want." I think the final was 11-1 or 12-1 RPI and so it began. After going with him as a guest for a few years, including road trips to Harvard, Vermont and Colgate, I got my own tickets and have been there ever since.

11-1 http://www.augenblick.org/rpi/h_05yr.html

Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

A while back, JCrawford had mentioned something about the lack of being able to purchase hockey tickets online. Perhaps they have rectified this? https://tickets.athletics.rpi.edu/

I've got 4 together for Dartmouth, directly behind visitor's bench (on townie side) 6 rows up. Half-price if you can remember my name; 4 for $24.00. You can find me before games and between periods in the northwestern smoking lounge outside the fieldhouse, where I have, in the past, gotten inside info from smoking parents of players (York, Rabbani, Malchuk(2), Mrs. O'Grady ). Really, that's the only reason I'm out there......

Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

It looks like out 2009-10 record is improving from 18-17-4 to 19-17-3. http://www.uscho.com/2014/11/05/aft...-feels-like-it-let-down-its-current-students/

The article states that UA_ must forfeit all wins, I assume that includes ties.

Now should I change Rockchops' tie as the thread starter to a win also? http://board.uscho.com/showthread.php?85665-RPI-vs-UAF-10-17-09-(Brice-Alaska-Goal-Rush)

The way I read the article, it said the Nanooks had to vacate all wins, but it didn't say anything about vacating ties. That's the problem with the NCAA's football/basketball mindset - they don't allow ties in either of those two sports, but they forget that there are other sports where ties are still possible.

Maybe the tie still counts as a tie.

Actually, although the game was officially recorded as a tie, the tournament during which that game was played called for a shootout to resolve ties and Alaska won the shootout. So I guess the shootout loss (which RPI never counted on its records) can be converted into a shootout win (which RPI won't count on its records, either).

Ties are considered equivalent to half a win, half a loss for all statistical purposes (most notably, the other RPI). I would have to imagine that the "half win/half loss" would become all loss. Not that it matters.

Reading the UA_ thread, the fans think that the decision should be appealed, and it is indeed a bit weird that this year's team should suffer for something that none of them were around for..

BTW, from Ken Schott's sport show today, the linesman who managed to get in Luke Curadi's way is out for a season with a broken bone in his leg.

Things like that happen when a Prius gets run into by an 18 wheeler. Hope he heals well and is back on the ice in time.
