Completely agree. This was the first post-game conference where there was no sugar-coating. I suspect the coach is feeling the heat. He has been lax way too long and the boys have taking advantage by not playing their tails off. There are hundreds of young aspiring hockey players who would love the chance to play D-1. If the guys on the team don't realize how fortunate they are, then they should be replaced with someone, although not necessarily as talented, much more hungry. If you can't play a full 60 minute game (which for most is less than 20 minutes of real ice time), then you shouldn't be playing at all.

I agree with you also. Coach was no doubt fuming post game.. it was good to see...I thought the guys that played last night gave all they had.Miami has way more skill but I never felt like our guys quit trying.

If they're suspended, then losing the letter is an obvious one. Travis Fulton should still get a serious look at a letter, even if merely on the basis of the effort he gives on the ice night in and night out, even when the team is playing horribly.

Absolutely! No argument from me on this. if Fulton had a little more offensive skills, then he would be playing on the top line. Regardless, earning a letter would be setting a good example to the younger players that hustle and hard work does pay off in the long run.

My point was he has had an Olympic goalie, nhl goalie and nhl drafted goalie in his 9 years here. We havent made it to ecac' once. Our powerplay has always sucked except 1 year when a hobey baker Finalist saved it. Our offense is the same systems and hasn't changed. I have only missed 3 home games in the past 10 years. Empty seats are growing, maybe I need to lower my expectations for what we are or will be. Not one person can come save the day. The losses are tearing me up

So if not one person can come save the day, why make the argument?

Unless Appert has an ace up his sleeve, I'm not surprised. Given what's happened, those are the cards he has.

From the postgame interview it seemed very unlikely that the suspensions were for only one game.

Is this likely to be due to some misconduct, teams rules violation as the video suggested? It just seems like quite a coincidence that it has hit all 4 captains and no one else. Could the violation be simply not leading the team to win?

I too am hoping this will help RPI get on track.

Couple a beers in Boston after the Harvard game? If it was the whole team and the captains were involved that's who you suspend.

If there is a silver lining around the dark cloud Captains' suspension, the team played a TOP 10 team close. Yes, I know "close only counts....". but considering the circumstance not bad, not bad a all.

Is that what happened, or are you just using it as an example? (Actually if that was the case and the whole team was involved, it would be worse because some of the other players are under 21.)

I agree that it wasn't a bad game at all considering the circumstances, but the team has to start winning.

You suspend everyone who violated the code of conduct. Otherwise players would just have to make sure captains were at the party and you would be fine. You could tack on another game for leadership, but anyone who participated should sit. The four captains, the article stated, have a combined 2 goals and 14 assists. Easy for coach to make a statement when it doesn't involve any "star" players. If only four captains involved, then they got what they deserved.

Then you don't play

Scuttlebutt but "kinda reliable" More than Fox News" or Weaver

Silver lining ! You reap what you sow! if these are your captains and you recruited them..... Time to go bye bye

Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

Oh, for crying out loud. I can't take this anymore.

Beman, your "kinda reliable" scuttlebutt is just plain wrong. Nobody was drinking after the game in Boston. They got on the bus right at the rink and left for home just as they always do. I can say this with certainty because I was there. I talked to them, watched them get on the bus and waved goodbye.

And hawthr, I can pretty much guarantee you the person on reddit who "knows someone close to the team" is wrong too. I can't offer you proof on that one, but I know these boys and their families and I am confident that they did not and would not show up for a practice hung over or miss a practice for that reason. Sheesh. Maybe a few years ago, without naming any names, but not these boys on this team.

I'm not saying they didn't do anything wrong. Clearly they did in Coach Appert's eyes. I'm sure they were guilty of bad judgment in some respect. But they aren't idiots – it wasn’t anything that would so obviously hurt their teammates and themselves as is being suggested here.

I'm not trying to short-circuit your conversation - feel free to go on speculating. I just happened to do a rare check here tonight and couldn't resist giving my two cents worth before fading back into the woodwork. :)

Whether SA should be let go is a debatable point, but if what was written on Reddit is correct, he handled it correctly, and IMO it has no bearing on his job status. All four are over 21. They don't appear to have done anything illegal as far as we know. SA can't watch them 24 hours a day.
