I agree about the head injury, but even before that what I noticed is , defensively, she just basically stood in front of the net. The other team skating around and Trnkova just standing there not covering anyone. Then when she came to the bench for a change her head was down, she looked out of breath, and not at all engaged with her teammates like the other players are. Something is definitely wrong.
I thought the best defensive player all weekend was Helgeson. Too bad she is a grad student and is only here this year. She is fun to watch.
I have really appreciated the play of Helgeson all season. I agree that it is a shame we only have her for one season. We did try to recruit her 4 years ago but she wisely chose to stay with Wisconsin. I remember saving a picture of both her and her sister Kate back about 5 years ago thinking how great it would be to add those high quality recruits in the program. I saved that picture for obvious reasons, but Jenny ran across it on my computer and mistakenly deleted it!(or so she says) Helgeson is a very good stay at home defensive defense player who makes some extremely smart accurate passes. If we had another like her on the team and of course a second Trnkova, this team would be much more of a top tier program.
