RPI Engineers 2017-2018

Re: RPI Engineers 2017-2018

Excellent piece. I am very interested to see how this team develops throughout the season with a new attitude, new approach, new team values, etc. There seems to be a new and positive feeling, which was waaaay overdue. Good luck to them!

Yes sound very upbeat, lots going on there, and another key factor is new systems.

Re: RPI Engineers 2017-2018

Give him several years (if that is possible) and he will get some of his recruits and maybe see an upswing in competitiveness.

I just hope Vines took a few hints from what happened with his previous mentor and uses the ladies' talents to strengthen a great team.

It's been a tidal wave of change, in spirit, actions, new systems, accountability and will take some time to make it work. Could see them hesitate or revert to old ways during the game. Have a few injuries to heal and deal with as well.

Tough losses in the Maine series; definitely in both of those games. Hopefully things will turn around when going to league play in a couple weeks.

Unfortunately Maine isn't known as a good program, unless they suddenly prove otherwise this year, but hopefully good things are ahead for RPI.

Re: RPI Engineers 2017-2018

I'm back :). Actually, I have been here all along, but as an observer rather than as my normally opinionated commentator. Glad to see that the thread continues to be one of the more active team threads for women's D1 hockey.

Wishing the new coaching staff well. I considered John Burke to be a friend so was sad to see him go, but change is sometimes necessary.

Season is off to a slow start for team. Three point weekends are nothing to sneeze at, but when it is a home series against two teams that you need to be above in the standings it is nothing to celebrate. Team seems to lack the jump / speed (so far) of typical Engineers teams but its early. Maybe lack of off-season conditioning due to the tumultuous summer?
