RPI Engineers 2016-2017: 10 Years on

Re: RPI Engineers 2016-2017: 10 Years on

Just went through the exercise of looking at each of the ECAC teams: the amount of talent lost to graduation and their success in recruiting. Once again I see RPI on the cusp of making/missing the playoffs (I picked them for 8th in the ECAC poll thread). Some really good looking recruits again this year, but as has been the pattern for RPI for many years now they did not land any of the US or Cdn U-18 team members or camp invitees (most ECAC teams manage to snag one or two). So, I expect that again this year the Engineers will need to be a hard-working, disciplined team with outstanding goaltending if they are to make the playoffs. Looking forward to the season.

That's impressive. (Maybe we need an alumnae thread too. ;) )

Well there is not much choice in that direction if you want to stay near home. Hopefully she adjusts well to the winters.

Alexander to RPI

The Chicago Young Americans are proud to announce that U16 sophomore and defenseman MaryJane Alexander has committed to RPI to continue her hockey career in 2019. Alexander joined CYA in 2011 as a first year U12 player, supporting CYA’s emphasis on development of the complete player and that playing girls hockey is a strong development path to college opportunities. This season Alexander will be an anchor to the defensive unit on the U16’s, while also leading off the ice.

“MJ’s sharp skills, defensive composure, hockey IQ, and compete level generated interest from several college programs in the NCAA,” commented Cimba. "She has ultimately made the decision to join Coach Burke and the Engineers in the ECAC. With the focus and work ethic MJ has, there is no doubt she will be ready to make an impact at RPI in 2019.” Coming into her sixth season with CYA, Alexander reflected on her experience, stating "Hockey has been a huge part of my life ever since I was 4 years old, but it was when I came to CYA and started playing with some of my best friends that I realized I wanted to persue the game for as long as I could and to my best ability.” Alexander went on to say, "I have worked so hard to get to this point and my individual effort is only part of it. My teammates and my coaches at CYA have sincerely made a big impact on my game and have had a large influence in my life off the ice as well as on. I can't thank my parents and my coaches enough for motivating and pushing me to my limits and showing me that hard work can really take you far. I am more than excited to continue my path in the sport by putting in the hard work each day to improve myself and others, and to further my education and hockey at this excellent university."

Alexander is pumped that the season is underway and is ready to help lead the U16’s to a State title and a trip to the National Championship. We are all so proud of you.

Way to go MJ!

Re: RPI Engineers 2016-2017: 10 Years on

Anyone know why they’re starting tonight’s game @ 6pm?

Seems to be an ECAC standard for Friday games this year. Most of RPI's Friday home games are 6 pm (all of their ECAC home games).
