Re: RPI @ Colgate (Friday, 24 February 2012)

A weekend of games with nothing to lose-and very little to gain. Just go out and play relaxed and have fun. Hopefully we are healthy and stay that way for the more important playoffs coming up next week. Let's Go Red!!

Heading out to this one tonight with my brother in law and kids. I must say that I have the lowest expectations that I may ever have had going to an RPI game. I've seen them only once before at Colgate in 1987 and that was a 7-4 loss. My clearest memory from that game is some guy waving a rubber chicken on a pole over the ice after every Colgate goal. This is not a good matchup for us and I expect Colgate is very confident. I hope they are taking us too lightly and we pull off a surprise. If instead we give up a couple early then it will be a long night.

I used to be a fan of the AHL's Baltimore Clippers.

I remember one time I went to see them play at Springfield. To give you an idea how long ago this was, Andy Brown, the maskless man, was in net for Baltimore.

Absolutely nothing went right for the Clippers. Springfield won, 8-0. As the Kings' (they were an LA farm club at the time) lead grew, a fan started waving a rubber chicken on a pole.

Later that season, Springfield visited Baltimore, and the Clippers beat them 14-0.

I almost hope the Colgate fan shows up with the rubber chicken tonight. It's too late to do our team much good this season, but there will be guys coming back to play against Colgate next year. I'd like to see them approach that game with the attitude that the Clippers' players approached that second Springfield game so many years ago.

Yeah, don't count on it, they just got swept in the North Country and we're easy points at home.

I look forward to seeing you there. As far as I know, no buddies are coming along tonight (and I don't blame them).

Re: RPI @ Colgate (Friday, 24 February 2012)

Colgate has not been a good matchup for us for years.
It will be interesting to see which RPI team shows up tonight.
Certainly, there should be some motivation coming from the BRF, but who knows.
They have to play as a team and play that way for 60 minutes.

Re: RPI @ Colgate (Friday, 24 February 2012)

just my 2-cents (which won't even buy a chik-let) but you can't convince me that there are 6 better D-men on this team than Patrick Koudys.

Better? none. But they are all playing and he is not. Injury? Something else?

Re: RPI @ Colgate (Friday, 24 February 2012)

Yay, gameday! Probably won't be here until sometime in the second period though.

Re: RPI @ Colgate (Friday, 24 February 2012)

I see O'Grady is out as well. I'm wondering if it's from the injury he obtained last weekend when he went head first into the boards. He did go back with the trainer, but then came back out to play later on. He'll be missed.

And why would you leave off the two players that at the last game bought their game>..Smith and Rabbani.
I guess their reward is that they sit out. Would be nice to have a coach who knew how to use physical players in with the speedy guys.

Colgate skated circles around us last time out. Seriously made it look like we were standing still. I don't blame him looking for speed over size for this one.
