Re: RPI @ Clarkson, Saturday, Feb 7th
after 2 periods
Clarkson 5
RPI 2
after 2 periods
Clarkson 5
RPI 2
Defensive meltdown leads to a 2 on 1 and it is 5-2
Hate to say it, but the Appert-coached teams are the most ill-prepared mentally I have ever seen, across all levels of hockey. A let down immediately after the 2nd RPI goal is disgusting. Horrible.![]()
Absolutely spot on. But i would add ill prepared tactically also. We just go with Plan A all night. And if Plan A is not working, well we try Plan A again.Hate to say it, but the Appert-coached teams are the most ill-prepared mentally I have ever seen, across all levels of hockey. They are making me sorry I stayed around to watch this. The 3 lost face offs leading to immediate goals is bad enough, but late in a period to just collapse and allow a clean 2 on 1 with the shooter having a weekend to line up his shot? Honestly it appears that many of our players are afraid to make plays lest they be punished(either by an official calling a penalty or the coach putting them into the doghouse). If we are going to get called for something, make it a worthwhile hit. Where is the aggressive hitting we saw early in the season? Absolutely no creativity-we are so predictable that well coached teams are eatin gus up. And these North Country teams have always been pretty well prepared for us in the past.
I feel really bad for these boys. They started out with lots of energy this season. They were clicking(even if not winning). They were exciting to watch. Whatever has happened to them, has happened several times in the past years. The offense gets muted, boring and repetitive. The defense is so afraid to move the puck that instead of getting it out of the zone quickly, they play with it afraid to make the wrong pass out.Exactly Doc! The effort and focus this weekend has been putrid. And that's a change from earlier this season. Really disheartened tonight.

As far as the face offs-totally inexcusable. If you know this is a major weakness, you work on it in practice at the expense of everything else. At least working on face offs no one should get injured as seems to happen all the time in practice with these teams.
Well, RPI iced the puck twice in the first period and gave up one goal.
They iced the puck only once in the second period and gave up four.
Maybe they should ice the puck more often?
By the way, why is it that when RPI ices the puck, it is of sufficient significance to warrant keeping track of, but when the other team ices it, it is not?![]()

I also think that I have 0 points so far this weekend in the PtC. ;mad:
