RPI @ Brown 1/29/10

Re: RPI @ Brown 1/29/10

According to what I see here on the thread, WRPI objected to the interference call. Nothing to indicate that the slashing wasn't legitimate.

Re: RPI @ Brown 1/29/10

There was no way we should have been in this position. If we played the first and second periods, there would have been no overtime.
These players are going to have to wake up if they think that they are moving to the next level.

Re: RPI @ Brown 1/29/10

No loser points tonight. Brown gets both of them. Engineers need to step it up and stay out of the box tomorrow night at the Whale.

That's the impression I got. I'd be interested in hearing any opinion from someone with a video feed - what did Merth do that warranted more than being thrown out of the faceoff?

Normally that is a questionable call at any time-but with a few seconds left in the third and already a man down? Not having the video feed I just can't imagine that call unless Merth did something so obvious it could not be ignored.:(

I assume he tied up his man after the puck dropped. Something that happens on EVERY FACEOFF in EVERY GAME in this league. It must have been big to get called, in which case Merth deserves to ride the pine. He shouldn't have even been in the game tonight after his abysmal play last weekend.

It didn't seem like anything much to me.

Kingston - Craig Laliberte (Brock Higgs, Tyler Melancon) 8:37

His third assist. I'll post the summary tomorrow.

I rely on the radio broadcast for insight and I got absolutely none - when it mattered tonight.

Credit to Brown for what sounded like out working us for the first half of the night, or better. We're gonna have to play a lot better to salvage any points this weekend.

Totally agree Doc..anything short of a mugging has no business being called. I'll wait until I hear from the eyewitnesses. I have no ----ing idea what happened thanks to a lack of info from the radio feed...again.

Re: RPI @ Brown 1/29/10

In other news, the women looked good against QPac tonight. I have no idea how Q managed to burn us for 6 goals earlier in the season based on how they played tonight. They had no puck control, no breakout, no forecheck, and no offensive pressure. RPI with a rare penalty free game, and the only reason Q didn't get whistled for more than they did was because the refs swallowed the whistles after giving RPI 4 straight power plays early. Q continued to clutch, grab, hook, and hit the rest of the game unabated.

We have lost a couple games this year because we were put down 2 men but this stands out. I am convinced if all we had called was the first penalty-we would have killed it off in OT and then who knows. This game was taken from us. Would love to see video of that call on Merth.

Re: RPI @ Brown 1/29/10

The WRPI announcer originally called the 5 min major a hitting from behind penalty. After the game, he corrected his call, as the penalty was a head butting penalty.

160 lb. Brandon Pirri gets a game misconduct, but the guy who body slammed D'Amigo into the boards at HFH gets 2 mins.

I give up , there is no hope for ECAC zebras....uggh.
