RPI at Yale, Friday, 1/3/25

The women lost 7-2 despite leading in FO wins 40-15 and tied in SOGs.

The stat sheet does not show how many critical defensive mistakes were made or how atypically bad the goal tending was. Princeton scored a short handed goal when we made a poorly advised cross ice pass at their blue line which was intercepted and two of their goals were scored from extremely close in after defense simply did not clear a rebound or two after the first stop was made. It also showed that we are simply not able to handle a very big front line with some of the smaller defense pairings we are forced to use due to injury. Issa Wunder at 5'11" is just a mismatch for us against anyone else except Trnkova (who scored our only 2 goals). It appears that size matters just as much in ladies hockey as it does for the guys. We did a lot of good things against Princeton as shown in the stats, but we made enough critical mistakes to give them an easy win.
