RPI at Yale, 2/19/2022

Actually, I probably should abandon doing it completely because it causes people, including me, not to start threads on days when we are likely to lose. However, this year we often win the games we don't expect to win and vice versa.

I have a more simple philosophy. I will start any thread that i get online and find no one else has as long as it is a day that ends in a "Y". I let the chips fall where they may

Much of this year we have been involved in games like that. We win the ones that we play less bad than the opponent. We have had some really good games though - and even won a couple of them. But we have also played really well and lost. 55+ years of RPI hockey has taught me one thing - we are like a box of chocolates and you never know if we will be nougat, caramel, or creamy center. And sometimes we are just stale. But when we put it all together we are chocolate mousse and black forest cake put together!
Now I am getting a bit hungry.

Yes, Kepler's Third Law "Never bet for or against RPI in any game" is still valid. The other two, which I think are "Never bet for Cornell in the regular season or against them in the playoffs" and "Never bet for Clarkson in the playoffs or against them in the regular season", are also still pretty valid. This is after 20 or more years.

The ECAC could become very interesting if we can beat Yale (which after seeing them in Troy is by no means a certainty) and we get some other help in the stands against Colgate and Cornell. A bye would certainly be the goal but 5th place would be almost as nice as we get home ice, the lowest seed to play and avoid QU and Clarkson in the second round giving us at least the best chance to go to Lake Placid that we might have.

Hadn't thought of it that way. My gut tells me that whether we finish fourth or fifth there is a good chance we face Cornell in the second round.

Cornell is a tough team for us but i would rather face them than have to go up to Clarkson or QU. Neither team allows many goals and we are not exactly filling up the net in buckets. Cornell has handled us twice but just my opinion tells me that we would have a better chance facing them than the other two teams
And there is a chance we could draw Harvard instead of Cornell. Not a bowl of cherries but we match up better there.

Have to depend on you guys for now to post. Jenny has The Magnificent Seven on the TV and it is really hard to not look at that!!
