RPI at Maine 10/12/23 (season opener)

Either Maine is truly one of the top tier teams in the country or we have a lot of work to do. I have never seen so many blind passes made by us in our own zone trying to move the puck out from behind the net or near the goal line. It is a blessing that we only gave up 2 goals. Two goals called back were legitimately reviewed and should not have counted but this one could easily be way out of hand. Our speed is non-existent and we are muscled off the puck in virtually every puck battle. In spite of all of that, we are still down only one goal and perhaps we have played two periods of rope-a-dope and Maine has punched itself out (doubtful).

Will be leaving for home soon -just saw the shot totals before they switched channels here -unbelievable disparity! We need a spark from somewhere or this will get ugly.

Total domination by the Black Bears since about the half-way mark of the 1st period. Watson has single-handedly kept the floodgates from bursting, at least for now.

Maine brings in a strong recruiting class and expectations and fan excitement have been on the rise. They're a good team, no question. Watson has been very strong overall. Other than that, keys tomorrow will be generating more offense and staying out of the box.

and hoping that Maine gets overconfident

It's always interesting to hear opponent announcers mangling the pronunciation of RPI players' names.
