RPI 2026 Off-Season: Please Pardon Our Appearance As We Upgrade This Area

Sitar, Rullers, Smith, Scherzer, Lodewyk, Bono, Lindberg, and McNeil can all play center. I think Yurchuk might have played center in junior too. Lang likes to recruit a lot of centers to have some versatility there, so there's plenty of options. Opposite wing is a lot easier. Hadland has played on his off side a lot in junior, and I'd imagine a lot of the LWs are capable of it. One thing I really like about our depth is that we should be able to survive the inevitable injuries that pop up.

For some reason I thought Smith played some center in Junior. Guess we’ll find out soon enough here.

Do they rank based on a total stars/points analysis or the average per recruit? I assume it's the former, which obviously benefits us compared to top teams because we are bringing in big classes as Coach Lang rapidly upgrades the overall roster. I think it's clear that this class is on a completely different level than we've brought in since at least Seth's early days almost two decades ago. All schools have benefited from the new, larger recruiting pool, but it looks like we're taking advantage more than our direct competitors - or at least I hope/believe we'll see that when these guys actually hit the new HFH ice.

Completely agree, this class is something we haven’t seen in a long time. We all knew coach lang could recruit with the best of them but I wasn’t expecting this so soon. I also think coach Schneider is behind a lot of these players. The guy can flat out recruit

It's the former but that also means that we might move up as classes get updated. For example, Alaska is ahead of us with 17 recruits, Bowling Green with 14, Lake State with 13, etc. I assume that their classes are not actually that big, and once updated, we could move up. Our class does appear to be updated on it.

We are now #12. We are #21 by average ranking of recruits.

I think in many ways that #21 is more impressive. We are bringing in a big class, which gives a nice total score but generally drags down the average as it requires reaching deeper into the pool to fill slots. Even in July we are adding players whose ratings would have put them in the upper half of our previous classes. I know individual rankings should be taken with a grain of salt, but on average they can provide some indication of the skill set for the class. Being around the top third after years of being solidly in the bottom half is a welcome change. Now to see how it plays out on the ice.........

BG's class of incoming freshmen this year is only 6. The various lists (including CHN) are including kids who will be freshmen in '27. So you should moving up ;-)
