Speaking of which.... The new boards and glass are installed. New epoxy floor coating application is underway in the concession area. There is no ice.
On a positive note, they've actually finally taken the plastic wrapping off of the new chiller unit , the service panels are off and workers are working...ha ha. The trailer mounted units remain on site and trucks from the company that owns those are on site working as well. All signs seem to point toward temporary chiller use until whatever is amiss with the permanent equipment is resolved.
I can't make the "hype" event tonight, but if someone attends perhaps they can corner Bowers and ask for some factual information.
If the equipment is there already then one possibility is that the coolant that they need is late coming. Perhaps a data center somewhere jumped the line...

As per Bowers tonight, the ice project is "on schedule"...ha ha. They are slowly lowering the cooling temp of the refrigerant 3 degrees per day as part of tempering the curing of the concrete. Out of an abundance of caution, the former WIH home game vs. Northeastern will be played at Mohawk Harbor.

Went to the pep rally last night. It was nice. Many players walked up to fans and introduced themselves and chatted a bit. They all looked fit and were optimistic. The q & A was just a few pre chosen softball questions for the coaches to answer with coach speak . Spoke to a few of the women's teams players. Those poor girls have the 6 AM Frear Park ice slot. Very attractive crew I must say. Dr D would definitely approve. I was wondering if anyone else who went asked if Fridge was still going to do color commentary or if his new gig conflicts to much?

I should add that the slab temp was at 43 degrees yesterday apparently...so at 3 degrees per day ....you might have ice next week....we can dream...ha.

We played many a game at Frear in midnight or 6 a.m. time slots, but that was D League intramurals. I never thought we’d see a varsity team practicing then. When do the men practice?
I didn`t ask. Wouldn`t be surprised if it`s a sore subject. Giving away my age but back in the late 70s i played mite hockey there. There were no walls at that time and to this day in my mind was one of the coldest places i ever went. Talk about cold toes.. wow!

Does that mean it's a former NHL player pretending to be a college student?? because I'm more than okay with that

Clever. My guess is that it’s someone from the ACHA team or a freshman that had aged out of juniors or even prep school hockey thinking his hockey career was over (at least in terms of high level competition) and enrolled as a regular student. The coaches might have felt the need for more practice bodies. At this point I think if we’d taken anyone that was expected to play a significant role on a junior roster we'd have heard about it by now, particularly since classes started almost a month ago.
Edit: Of course that assumes the numbers we saw on the roster posting are correct and #23 is, in fact, a new addition. Even money they'll just update the #s. I see they've added pictures to the roster. Anyone good at facial recognition?

My understanding is that the #20 jersey is back order so they gave a temporary #23 jersey to Serlin.

Over many years I have to say that we have put some of the most attractive ladies teams on the ice of any program. Competitive, sometimes. But attractive - you bet. I never expected to see that at RPI given the fact that in the 60's we were never sure without a buccal scraping if the so called ladies on campus had 2 XX chromosomes or not. With this group (and as a cosmetic surgeon/dermatologist I have made a detailed examination of the pictures posted for the roster, and going back several years, I wish I was 1/3 my current age and single!! Jenny does not mind this post at all since she realizes most of these young ladies could break me in two if I even tried anything!!!!
What i do miss is previously we posted a total squad picture and that has not been done the last couple years.
