RPI 2025 Off-Season: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I honestly don't know which way the wind will blow in Troy...but I am not holding my breathe on a change. This is the outfit that can't fix the urinals in the bathroom, so I don't have any level of confidence that they'd eat year of Smith's salary.

If I'm allowed to dream, one guy who I would absolutely pursue is Dan Muse. He's currently an AC with the NY Rangers and he has extensive experience in the USHL, USNDTP and in the ECAC at Yale. He's said to be a cross between an old school coach and someone who embraces analytics and the importance of it.

I would do everything I could in a room with him and convince him he's the guy to resurrect this program.

Dan muse would be a home run hire! If RPI could pull that hire off that would be amazing. We’re talking $$$
 
uconn men''s basketball coach on 60 minutes last night gave some insight into the portal.
He claimed that 50% of his team was looking into the portal with at least a couple of his players have already talked to coaches that were interested in them.
Now his team has won two national championships in a row and still his players are looking elsewhere.
What can that mean to a losing team with no coach?
We need to move in a hurry.
 
I figured we’d know around 10 a.m. this morning so I was watching. Now the real work begins. Anyone can fire a coach. Hiring the right one is hard. Setting up a situation where he can succeed is even harder.

Absolutely true. You never want to see someone let go, but this one had to happen. Here's hoping the admin. has their short list of coaches assembled already (they should)....
 
Yes indeed. Players are simply on one year renewable contracts...especially in high profile programs. This is the reason guys like Saban, etc, are exiting the DI game....

Assuming Kirk has no intention of leaving WBS (he shouldn't) my realistic finalists are: Riga, Riley and Lange. Mongo would be a hoot for certain weekends of the year. Ha ha Git 'er DONE !!!

It was time for this change. I stood behind Dave for a while as I do think the SAJ administration hampered him a lot.

I believe that after the 22 loss to Harvard, they changed the identity of the team away from the “tough to play against” mentality they had with Linden, Johnson, Leppanen, etc. They did not recruit good enough players to make up for the tenacity they lost and this was their big mistake.

The administration NEEDS to support this next coach. For those that defended SA, DS, both, or neither, we can all agree on that. Let’s hope they have their ducks in a row before making this next hire.
 
I think I would pass on hiring another Atlantic Hockey Coach. Look what happened with the last one.
Here’s hoping that DS finds another job and soon…

Half the reason we passed on Barr was because he was cut from the same cloth as Seth (Young, first time head coach). Evaluate the candidate individually, not based on what you had before.

Very true. Can’t argue with you there.
Next question will be what about the players for next season? Will there be a lot of players going into the transfer portal? And what about the recruits? Will they stay committed or go elsewhere?
