I have nothing against defense men being a little under sized. As long as they can compensate by being superb skaters and can bench press at least as much as the other D-men!! I must say though that i am quite satisfied with what I have seen size wise from the early reports of the upcoming roster. If anyone was watching the NHL draft a week ago they had to notice that most of the early draftees were huge!!! And it is not surprising that Rullers was a player that Tampa was looking at. Doubtful they would be as interested if he was under 6' tall.
Doc this years team is huge. Damn near Cornell size.

I wonder if Gorton is a fisherman :)
Could be a promising omen: Gorton the fisherman was briefly in the Islanders system

Ken Schott of the Schenectady Gazette has an interesting interview with Dave Smith on his Parting Schott's Podcast:

It’s definitely interesting.

Am I the only one who liked those unis?
I was working on Long Island not far from the Nassau Coliseum (while living in CT for the ultimate commuting hell) when the Islanders made the change. The fans I knew hated those unis, but I think it was largely the embarrassment that came from being a knockoff of the Gorton logo. If the purveyor of frozen seafood never existed and a graphic designer came up with the new Islanders logo I suspect they would have been quite popular. As it was, the constant references to the team as "the fish sticks" or other similar putdowns wore down a fan base that could see the Islander dynasty of the prior decade fading in the rear view mirror.

Meanwhile here in CT we had what I still think is one of the great sports logos of all time, the embedded H in the whale's tale. Unfortunately the Whalers would soon be gone thanks to Peter Karmanos.

It's probably still a while before I will start the 25-26 season thread, but I am still looking for suggestions for a title. Last year I started it on 9/23/24.

Also looking for comments about the two earlier suggestions which I have kept:
RPI 2025–26: Lang In There 25+years
RPI 2025–26: Crawl, Walk, Run RPI fan 4 life

Wyland will have Matt Murley on his radio show today sometime between 10am - 1PM 104.5 the Team. If it hasn't been discussed here, Matty is being inducted into the NYS Hockey Hall of Fame.

They don't appear to have made any changes to the online roster since it was originally linked, either by adding the two missing plyers or by including uniform numbers. The former still concerns me, and the lack of uniform numbers would give us an advantage if it were allowed. :)

I'm actually more optimistic regarding the two players. McMahon is a reliable source so I do believe they committed. It would also make no sense at this late time for them to decommit without another option. When a player decommits in favor of another program or a professional contract word of their new deal usually comes immediately. Since we've heard nothing (and they haven't put out the new recruit press release) I suspect they are getting all of the paperwork in place. When done they will be added to the roster and we'll get the release. Of course, this is also the time of year when I get overly optimistic about the coming season..........
