RPI 2025 Off-Season: Help Is On the Way

Agree totally. You give us 2 pairs of top tier solid defense men and we could put Ralph in as our goalie and do very well! On second thought, maybe we would need 3 pairs in front of Ralph. On third thought, scratch Ralph.:) We could have almost anyone in at goalie at do very well.
I wonder if that is the case with former RPI recruit Ryan Sanborn who has been performing much better for Trenton (OJHL) than he has the last couple of years for several teams in several leagues.

I don't know. Sure Ralph has to overcome age and size limitations, but if you ever tried to beat him in a score thread update or wanted recruit status on a 10 game Saturday night, you know he still has the quick reflexes and stamina required.

Best of luck to the lacrosse team today as they face Dickinson at 3 pm in the NCAA Quarterfinals. I found a YouTube stream of the game, but don’t know if it’s legit.

Yesterday our baseball team was leading 5-3 with only the bottom of the ninth left to play. There was a long delay (weather most likely) and when they resumed hours later, we lost 6-5. Puts us in the losers bracket of the NCAA tournament but we are not eliminated yet.

Doc, Just an FYI --In today's era of political correctness, the appropriate term is the "Less Fortunate" Bracket. LOL

Update on the baseball team - they won their first game today and now play again against the team they lost to yesterday (Rutgers-Camden).
Lacrosse was delayed due to weather and not sure of the new starting time

The Lacrosse team can’t win an important face off either. Nice to see it’s an Institute-wide problem.

On another note, Lang should recruit the Dickinson goalie and put a pair of skates on him.

Thanks to Cinnamoroll who has done a ton of great work cataloguing the CHL to NCAA movements and news on that thread, here are some keeper options from the CHL...some more "gettable" than others. U Sports keepers are another possibility as well.
'
OHL:
(Aforementioned) Jacob Oster, Oshawa Generals. two straight finals appearances, goalie of the year last year. 32-17-3-1 2.81 0.904, 6'3 190. 4 year OHL career, career regular season record was 100-64-15-5.

Owen Flores, Niagara IceDogs. Chicage, IL native. 24-16-3-3, 3.82, 0.899 6'2 194.

Nick Surzycia, Sarnia Sting, 16-21-4-5, 3.70, 0.885, 6'0 170.

WHL:
Dylan Ernst, Kamloops Blazers 17-21-2 3.47 0.895 6'4 185. two straight bad Kamloops teams, but he did great in 2023.

QMJHL:
Mathis Rousseau, Moncton Wildcats. 2.88 0.905, 20-25. Spectacular numbers on a bad Halifax team, traded to the best team in the league, currently splitting the net with Rudy Guimond. 2024 Team Canada WJC starter. 2023 QMJHL finals appearance. Will have many suitors. 5'11 172

Nicolas Ruccia, Charlottetown Islanders, 15-20-3 3.13 0.892, 6' 172

Former CHLers in junior A:
Marcus Vandenberg, Leamington Flyers of OJHL, 31-4-2 1.48 .946, OJHL best goalie, best GAA, best save %. 6'0 176. Started with Sudbury Wolves

Liam Sztuska, Cowichan Valley BCHL, spent parts of this year with OHL Peterborough, QMJHL Shawinigan, ended in BCHL. just gonna link his EP page bc his stats are complicated. Backup of 2022 OHL champs

Jari Kykkanen, Vernon Vipers BCHL

I haven't had any luck getting it fully confirmed, but I don't want to keep you guys waiting. So don't take this as 100%, but I'm pretty sure they got Bruno Bruveris committed in net. Latvian goalie from Miami in the portal
Nice work Sez... two years of elig. left. It should be noted he played on an equally bad Miami squad that went 3-28 last season....so he is used to seeing plenty of rubber slung at him....

In reading his profile on the Miami site, he played in 2022 WJC for Latvia -- which would connect him to coach Karlis.

I really don’t know what to make of this guy. As noted, Miami was awful. They were so bad we beat them 2x on the road. So it’s hard to judge based on two seasons of stats that I’m being generous if I call them mediocre. It looks like he had a couple of good but not standout years in the USHL before that. We just have to trust the new staff has done their homework and feel that he will work in their system.

Also need to consider he was playing on a bad team in the NCHC....so every night you had the privilege of squaring off against Western Michigan, Denver, NoDak, Col. College, Omaha, Duluth, etc etc..

I have no inside information, but already think we'll be better across the board next year. This may just be the natural reaction (Stockholm Syndrome) to being beaten down for so long...but I can dream.... LOL

Edit: Krawchuk is your starter on paper heading into camp...if Bruno can make things interesting in the competition then we'll be better for it
