RPI 2017 Off-Season: We March 4th into the Future

Re: RPI 2017 Off-Season: We March 4th into the Future

Didn't say it can't be done...It's tougher than it used to be.

Let me reiterate this. UNION COLLEGE WON A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP IN 2014.

It's clearly not.

Edit: Elaboration.

Union College exists in the ******* of New York State, and plays its home games in a rink that a great many D3 programs would say was ****. And they put up 7 goals on the University of Minnesota in the national championship game.

I defy you to show me a barrier that RPI has that isn't thrown there by its own administration.

Wow. Can't believe that SAJ bought out all those years remaining on his contract. I guess it is true about nice guys finishing last (or at least next to last).
The most interesting question now will be about the recruits. Will they still be coming to RPI next season (or beyond)?

The ones with NLI have to stay.

Re: RPI 2017 Off-Season: We March 4th into the Future

The only ones who have signed a NLI are Ohrvall and Bailey Conger. But, that conversation is for the recruit thread.

Those are the only ones whom we know have signed letters. I am sure that others have also.

IMO, there is nothing at all wrong about discussing it here. A matter of fact, it is probably better.

One of the local TV stations mentions on a crawl on the bottom of the screen that RPI fires hockey coach "Seth Alpert". Embarrassing that they can't even spell the coaches name right after 11 years on the job.

It is there [sic] loss.

As far as I know, incoming recruits are not bound to the NLI when there is a coaching change.

If the ex-coach had any other NLIs, he would have mentioned them at the alumni event I went to. Given he was only allowed to mention those two, that's it.

The NLI website clearly states that the contract is with the institution. RPI COULD choose to break the contract, but if they don't, the NLI signers are bound to attend RPI or go to MJ.

Also shows you how much our local stations care. If it's not high school sports or Siena basketball, it barely gets a mention. Union's having a fantastic season again this year and even they barely get covered

If I recall correctly, Bailey Conger had a NLI with St. Lawrence, but was allowed to back out with the coaching change there last off-season. I believe this interpretation is correct.

Wow, this thread has had more action in two days of off-season than about a month of the regular season.
