RPI 2017 Off-Season: We March 4th into the Future

Re: RPI 2017 Off-Season: We March 4th into the Future

No but considering he gets paid for 3 more years (or is it four?) I don't think you need to feel too bad.

Now... let the speculation begin... Alum? D1 assistant? D3 head that looks promising? I for one would like to see someone with ties to the Northeast. It's absurd that Troy is 30 minutes from Mass and yet we can't seem to get any recruits from New England. We should average 1 recruit a season from one of CT, RI or MA in my opinion.

Considering the program's hideous performance on and off the ice, I don't feel bad. At all.

We've engaged Parker Executive Search to find a coach? ??? How about picking a few alums... maybe even Fridge and letting them figure it out. You can't tell me that there is some type of consulting service that actually knows something about coaching hockey!

Here's a D3 suggestion: Gary Heenan (Utica College). He put that program on the map, went to an academically challenging school, and is from NY. We need someone that can rebuild the program and also build community interest. That is exactly what Heenan did there.

Ben Barr?

USCHO story says "Appert guided the Engineers to a 10-18-8 record in 2016-17."

I thought we finished 8-28-1 this season (I'd gladly take the 2 extra wins, 10 fewer losses and 7 additional ties, but it probably wouldn't have saved Appert's job).

Twitter is alive with this as well. :D

not surprising, but I wonder if he would be interested

RPI must have some generous donors. Didn't Appert have a contract through the 20-21 season?

Re: RPI 2017 Off-Season: We March 4th into the Future

Like I said... they all went to college in Georgia and none of them have a background in hockey from what I can see. The sports recruiter, who appears to be the son of the founder, specifically mentions football, basketball and baseball. And prior to doing this he worked for Nissan.

I'm not filled with confidence.

Re: RPI 2017 Off-Season: We March 4th into the Future

I can't see Oates being interested.

WaP agrees

They are off by 10 years. We were 10-18-8 in 06-07.

You certainly are correct.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">This seems almost too easy. Barr, btw, is a Duluth native.
