I work with a bunch of people from Long Island and NYC. They consider upstate to be anything north of the GW or Throgs Neck. :rolleyes:

and Kurt tells ME I need to get out more. LOL.

This is why I hate hearing WRPI being called "Upstate Underground", or a local hospital being "Upstate Medical". Neither of them are in upstate NY.

That really depends on where you live. ;) Where would you put the line indicating upstate?

I already answered this. Draw an imaginary line eastward from the effective southeastern corner of Lake Ontario. If you're above that, upstate. If you're below that, you're not. Pretty much includes the Adirondack Park, the Tug Hill, and the North Country. That's it.

And FWIW, I grew up in what I consider to be upstate.

Are you saying that Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse are downstate?
