Today is 14 May 2015. There are 2 days until the NY Rangers next game. (Sorry Ralph, I just couldn't resist. Your Washington team has a few dirtbags including Wilson, Or***** and Ovi.)

Lets Go Rangers!
....speaking of Washington, I’ve yet to see that Patty Koudys has signed with them.

I'd like to see a Blackhawks - Rangers final, that would be fun to watch. It seems to me that they are the two teams with the most speed who also play a more skating-oriented game.

It would be weird to see the obverse, it just strikes me as bizarre for an ice hockey team to play for a city where the temperature never goes below freezing.

I did think that they'd put Freakout! on senior night, but maybe they wanted to avoid what happened the last time we played Princeton on BRF!/Senior Night.

Could be the screw-job the ECAC did for our schedule in 2010-11, making our Black Friday be vs. CCT when there are no students there, and trying to put Cornell for the Big Red Freakout. At least we worked around it.

Do we know who the other schools are in the Notre Dame tourney?

I am a Ranger fan also. I moved to DC in 1974 just as the Capitals started, and I bought season tickets which I held for about five years. I never could become a Capitals fan or any other DC team.

Actually, I lived in VA for the first eight months.

Notre Dame, obviously. I wouldn't be surprised if Western Michigan was also included; the only NCHC possibility. No WCHA team has the weekend open. Only B1G team with unknown opponents and an opening on that weekend is Penn State. Another Hockey East team, maybe? I'm pretty sure we're the "weak 4th team" (although we know what happened last year).

I suppose you could argue weather or not it is a good thing but seth sure schedules a tough ooc slate year after year. I hope the coaches/team can get things turned around so the games against the heavy weights we have coming to Troy are competitive.

It's good to see the schedule for the new season up on WaP (thanks, Tom!) Let's face it, we take on all comers. It's a challenging schedule. I wonder if that's part of the recruiting appeal... top flight education and we play the best teams from around the country. I'm looking forward to the new season.

It's a beautiful day in the Troy area... dropping some pucks would make it even better.

Our NC schedule consist of BC, UNH, and UML (HEA), Bentley (AHC), UA_ and UAA (WCHA), Miami*2 (NCHC), Michigan (B1G), ASU*2 (Independent), Union (ECAC), and two unknown opponents at Notre Dame. Thus we are playing NC games against schools from all six conferences including our own, as well as the only Independent. I wonder if anyone else will be able to make that claim.

I'd prefer that by next February that we are able to state that we are the only team that beat teams from all six conferences plus the independent in the same season! :)

However, I'd gladly trade all that to be able to say that we won our last game of the season. ;)

Clarkson is close, but not quite. We also have ASU, and have games against HEA, AHC, WCHA, and NCHC. We're in RMU's tourney and might play Penn State. No ECAC non-conference game, though.

Re: RPI 2015 Off Season Thread: Another Long Spring and Summer :(

Freakout was originally devised to get a big crowd for a stretch-drive game against a league opponent at a time when RPI was always on the bubble in regards to making the ECAC playoffs. The intent was to energize the home crowd and increase attendance at the last few home games and create momentum for the post-season. Senior night is always the last home game of the season, so Freakout would never be the same night. It is a shame that Freakout opponents are sometimes Clarkson or Cornell. It should be a game against a low-draw team such as Princeton or Brown, but the ECAC schedule doesn't always work out that way.

Our most recent tournament year saw us playing every conference and going 8-1-3 (0-1-1 WCHA, 1-0-0 CCHA, 4-0-0 AHA, 1-0-1 HEA, 0-0-1 ECAC, 2-0-0 Independent). As much as it'd be nice to going back to beating up cake teams, last year showed we couldn't even do that, so we might as well go for the heavy hitters and roll the dice; we might get lucky. Something tells me it's going to be mid-pack this year.

....even though they were outscored 30-6 & went 0-8 last year (UMinn, UD, Mich., BU, Miami). Now there’s a confidence builder.

The Senior Athletic Dept. banquet was on Wednesday. http://rpiathletics.com/news/2015/5/15/MHOCK_0515155923.aspx Curtis Leonard was among those inducted into Olympia.

Curtis Leonard Hockey
“Curtis represented our hockey program and university in a great manner. His work ethic, toughness and competitiveness allowed him to have a very strong career at RPI. He earned the hard assignments every night, matching up against the best players in college hockey.”
