Re: RPI 2015-16 Preseason Thread: To Dream the Impossible Dream
I don't know about that. Northeastern has a similar program (their standard curriculum if I am not mistaken is five years, four in college classes and one in an internship). Many people find that attractive, given how many college students these days already take five years to get their degree. Northeastern is over-subscribed every year if I am not mistaken. Granted, their hockey team may not be as competitive as their alumni might like, but I do recall that their basketball team made the NCAA tournament recently.
EDIT: oops, I see others already referenced Northeastern as well.
On a semi-related tangent, I know that the NCAA allows students in graduate school to play varsity football (e.g., Russell Wilson played his last year of college football at Wisconsin while enrolled there as a graduate student).
I hope that this isn't as mandatory as it sounds.
If I were in high school and RPI told me that, if I came there, I would be forced to attend a summer semester after my sophomore year and prohibited from attending either the fall or spring semester in my junior year, I think I would scratch RPI off my list of colleges to which I would be interested in applying.![]()
