RPI 2013/14: Sunny, with a slight chance of drivel

Re: RPI 2013/14: Sunny, with a slight chance of drivel

That is the only game i've ever seen in which both teams pulled their goalie.

It happened in the third game of four against Union my freshman year (09-10). We gave up two in the last minute (including one EAG) to go from one up to one down and pulled Yorkie for the last 19 seconds.

It sucked.

Re: RPI 2013/14: Sunny, with a slight chance of drivel

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but Jake Wood's game misconduct on Saturday is his third this year since he picked up two according to the box score of the Saturday night Union game, so he's likely to be suspended for the Quinnipiac game.

He'll be out anyways on the IR.

Re: RPI 2013/14: Sunny, with a slight chance of drivel

Yes we have used it or something very similar. As to starting a new thread,I am pretty here since this one will end at the end of the season anyway. If others want a new thread, I am fine fine with it also.

umm....I was not seriously suggesting we use the placeholder in the actual thread title, I literally meant it only to be a placeholder....

I'd prefer a new thread but I'd also prefer a lot of other things even more....:)

How come none of our goaltenders score goals?

OK wise guy, don't look this up: Name every goaltender in college that has scored a goal, and I don't just mean being credited with the goal. Hint: There's only one.

You really are a never-ending source of unintentional entertainment. I'm taking you off ignore just so I can bask in the glow of the stupidity as it intersects with mental breakdown.

ZOMG how come we have new uniforms this year?

There was an article on the front page of ECAC hockey and USCHO today that showed that there were 8 credited, 3 that actually shot the puck. Wise guy indeed...

Just another instance of the cancer being full of faux knowledge, from which he draws his inane opinions.

It's only a matter of time before flagdud comes back and says "But... but... I meant currently playing college hockey goalies"

Re: RPI 2013/14: Sunny, with a slight chance of drivel

This must be my lucky day. I get to reminisce back to the '60's again.

During the 1968-69 season, RPI's freshman team was challenged to a game by Union's club team.

RPI had a substantial lead at the end of the first period, and the coach told starting goalie Terry (Nurd) Jordan that he was going to put the second stringer in, so Jordan could have the rest of the game off. (Those were the days when the Dutchman's Shoes were the Dutchman's Shoes instead of the Dutchman Shoes, and a nurd was a nurd instead of a nerd.)

Jordan said he didn't want to take the rest of the game off. He wanted to play.

The coach said that was fine, but the second stringer wanted to play, too.

So they let Jordan take off the goaltender's equipment, gave him a regular player's stick, and let him play the rest of the game as a forward.

And he scored a hat trick.

Maybe Jake Soffer ought to ask Coach Appert if there are any spare forward's sticks lying around. :D

Certainly when we play Union -- it couldn't hurt. ;)

Re: RPI 2013/14: Sunny, with a slight chance of drivel

When it comes to pulling the goalie, I am very glad that the Blackhawks did not wait until the final minute to pull their goalie in game 6 of last year's Stanley Cup final! :)

That is the only game i've ever seen in which both teams pulled their goalie.

There was the RPI-SLU game from 08-09 at Appleton. Both teams scored an effective EAG.

Thread title suggestion Re: RPI 2013/14 Flagdude vs RPI Fandom

Re: RPI 2013/14: Sunny, with a slight chance of drivel

I'm surprised your commie group hasn't declared an "-ism" to describe those like me. Or is it still going to be my astrological sign?

Take caution in your tone with me son, I was standing with Ronald Reagan against the commies when you were still in diapers.

To paraphrase many lawyers doing commercials: Past performance does not guarantee future results. If you're going to use terminology to describe a member of the RPI staff that is similar to what is used to describe the leader of North Korea, then you can understand why you are seen in a different eye.
