RPI 2013/14 Part III: Maximum Overdrivel

Re: RPI 2013/14 Part III: Maximum Overdrivel

I kind of suspect that at the end of the day, each player gets a percentage of the 1/3rd from the online vote.

That was my interpretation also. That of course implies that we shouldn't just try to win it for BH but keep trying to improve the percentage.

I'll contact a medium and ask all my dead relatives to vote for Brock as well. ;)

Hey, it works in Chicago and Minnesota!

Re: RPI 2013/14 Part III: Maximum Overdrivel

I have no intentions of furthering your childish name changing.

so it's only just now that you are beginning to have the beginnings of a glimmer of awareness of all the torture you've inflicted on the rest of us for so long?

We've asked you nicely to consider the effect your childishness has had, and you shrugged it off....some have tried to shame you into behaving in a quasi-civilized manner, and you responded by ridiculing them for having good manners ... some have tried to confront you, and you pretended it was a badge of honor....

you should know that, by saying you "have no intention" you have actually revealed exactly the opposite?

if this is what it takes to finally get you to change (in this thread at least) then you can count on me to keep doing it until I see further evidence that it works! :p

I will NEVER be ashamed of speaking the truth. I will call it as I see it, and will do so in an unbiased manner. If you don't like my bluntness, that is your problem. **** off.

Not taking sides here because frankly I don't care, and I'm not trying to be a catalyst for this standoff, but I think FF's point is that it's not what you are saying, it is how you are saying it. You can be blunt without making yourself seem uninformed or off the wall while you are doing it.

Again, I haven't been paying enough attention to verify the validity of these claims (apart from a "Fire Seth Appert" thread which seemed a little unnecessary to me), but I think I get what FF is trying to get at.

That is all. *Steps off Charlie Brown stage*

Re: RPI 2013/14 Part III: Maximum Overdrivel

Back to hockey for a moment, I think we should all be happy we have the "will we see moar hockey at HFH in early 2014" monkey off our backs tonight with a decent win over Brown (I actually expected us to lose tonight), but now that Diebold was amazing between the pipes and that is behind us, we need to look to Yale (which I will be at tomorrow night -- I have a terrible personal away attendance record for RPI, but that may be because I've only been to Onion's "rink" and the TUC :P) and just win. I'd like to finish higher than 7th and with a >.500 record, but at this point, I am glad we can finish no lower than 7th.

Yes, thank you! :) Very well stated!

and I know that this sentiment is not limited to me: from comments and all the positive rep I've received on this subject, this sentiment is fairly widespread.

There is a huge difference between saying, "I disagree with you for these reasons" and "you are a flaming idiot."

While the latter may be considered "acceptable" in the cafe, we merely ask that it remain there. Don't bring it here too.

+1.

As I understand it, assuming we win two games next weekend, there is no possible way we would face Onion on the 14[SUP]th[/SUP] and 15[SUP]th[/SUP].

It is funny how team-vs-team matchups work sometimes. Team A matches up well vs Team B; Team B matches up well against Team C; Team C matches up against Team A.

Logically, this violates the transitive property, but while the transitive property works in math, it is often not applicable to human endeavors. Go figure.

.

Correct. They will play the lowest remaining seed after the first round, which will be the 8th place team or lower.

If your socialist brainwashed ears (and that is where "politically correct" comes from, first used in the Russian Revolution) cannot handle the method in which I speak, then that issue lies with you and not me. I will not compromise my character because someone's feelings are hurt. Nor will I perpetually judge someone on the basis of reputation alone, whether derived from another person's opinion or a small sampling of conversation.

Re: RPI 2013/14 Part III: Maximum Overdrivel

TBH, it seems a lot of effort is being wasted trying to change the ways of the grossly self-absorbed. Ignore. It feels good.

Re: RPI 2013/14 Part III: Maximum Overdrivel

....[needless gratuitous insults, stubborn petulant insistence on telling everyone who approaches me nicely to go f^ck themselves in the rudest possible manner imaginable].....

Wow, you are a much bigger sh^thead than I ever imagined. You really have no clue as to how pathetic you are. What a shame.

"Never try to teach a pig to sing. It merely frustrates you and annoys the pig."

Thanks for the reminder. Another generous gesture trashed by an unappreciative twit.

You want the ridicule to continue, that's your choice.

PS to rest of thread regulars: my apologies for even attempting a dialog with Johnny One-Note in the first place. My last public post in this thread on this subject.

I suppose it's time to dust off the ignore list. The political threads will certainly be interesting, as it'll probably be a whole page of ignores now.

No different than most of the RPI fans see when they load this thread.

Re: RPI 2013/14 Part III: Maximum Overdrivel

Getting back to hockey, I took the time to make a spreadsheet listing out all the possibilities of who our opponent may be in the first round of the playoffs, based on what tonight's results are. Simple drop-downs are used to choose the result of each game to display results.

Also, on the 'Schedule' tab, it lists our probability (each game being of equal weight) of who our opponent will be based on how we do. In short - if we win tonight, there's a 49.38% chance we'll play Harvard. Lose or tie, the odds shift to SLU at 34.57%

Feel free to grab it off dropbox to play with: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/27996070/Final%20Game%20Breakdown.xls
