Considering there has only been ONE game at the HFH since the middle of December, that wouldn't be too likely either.

That is exactly what i meant-I personally would have a much better handle on a team's power play and how a team performs short handed with that kind of information.

Interesting stretch run for not only RPI but for several other ECAC teams as far as jockeying for position. While anything can happen it would appear that with the remaining games/teams RPI faces it will be an uphill challenge to get into one of the top 5/6 spots.Right now it looks like a team would need at least 23/24 points to get into the 5/6 positions and that could be as big as getting into a top 4 spot for the first round. More than likely the 5/6 spots will draw Dartmouth and Princeton which should be a solid advantage to the 5/6 teams. the 7/8 teams would probably face either Harvard or SLU and those 2 teams would pose completely opposite problems in a 3 game playoff format. ECAC play seems to favor teams who play the most consistent defensive zone game and that will probably determine who moves up the ladder in the final 4 weeks.

I'm probably alone in thinking this, but two things about our PP ( other than its lousy ...again )
1) I HATE the 5 forward concept...it's ineffective and usually results in short handed chances against ( hello , SLU )
2) I love seeing the BRO down low on the offensive end ...he looks at ease handling the puck and occupies a zip code of real estate for defenders. I want more of this ****it!!!

I haven't been to a home game in a while, but I seem to remember RPI scoring on a 5-on-3 and being told "the Engineers are still on an ESJ PP!!!"I realize that, but there is no reason that an ESP corresponds to it. They don't announce it again after a goal is cored as far as I recall. (Thus definitely is drivel.)

1) NHL teams do this all the time, and unless they're defensive forwards (which they're usually not), same exact thing happens. That being said, I can see 5 forwards out there with a 2-man advantage more than I can a 1-man advantage. When you have more space to work with at the blue line there's a better chance you won't make a stupid mistake.
2) Seriously. While him, Wood, and a few other players need to cool it with the penalties, when they're not taking penalties they're working ridiculously hard. Love to see the effort.
As usual, our problem with the PP is that they look for that pretty, completely-open shooting lane all the time. In league play in particular, there isn't one. This is the ECAC, we are all about low-scoring defensive efforts. More shots towards the net. Normally I'd tell them not to listen to the crowd yelling "shoot!" all the time, but in this case, they seriously need to take more chances throwing the puck at the net. And stop passing through the slot with two or three opponents clogging it up!!

Yale: I never bet on these games or know what to say, just like Colgate, because we're always so evenly-matched most of the time or they go in a completely unexpected direction. Yale basically plays the exact same offense-focused high-speed game RPI does, so it always makes for an interesting game. I think Diebold will have to be sharp for this one, and we'll need to stay out of the box.
Brown: exactly the opposite, basically. I think our offense will have to be sharp for this one, and the more Brown is in the box the better. Plus it is Freakout so we should win

If you shoot the puck toward the net when you have a teammate in front of it, you give said teammate a chance to deflect the puck on goal past the goalie. Too often I think we are trying to score directly on the shot and we don't make enough deflection goals compared to our opportunities.

Totally agree with that. Also, if the puck gets through, there is someone there for a rebound.
Unfortunately, since Pirri and Polacek and now Haggerty, all they want to do is set up a one timer from the left face off circle. And everybody knows what's coming.

No one here is complaining about shooting the puck with our own forward in front, but rather shooting it into a defensive forward that is looking to block the shot. We certainly need to take rebound opportunities. If the goalie swallows up rebounds, that's going to happen, and the worst that happens is a face-off in the attacking zone to try again. Is there a concern that we're a smaller team that can't fight for and control rebounds, and are relegated to chucking it from the cheap seats? The coach emphasizes corner play, and rebounds in front of the net is no different. If we're going to fight for corners, let's fight for rebounds.

I had some password expiration problems back in December. After a note or two to uscho admin and no response, I just fell out of practice. I would drop in from time to time and saw that it was becoming more hockey and less drivel... so it was time to get back in. Reregistration got me out of password purgatory.
