If a player on the team completing the line change (in this case Denver) PURPOSEFULLY touches either the puck or an opposing player it is a too many men penalty. If the puck touches another player that is the team changing lines accidentally then there is no penalty. Not being at the game and just reading your post, it sounds like the right call was made.
Also Denver on a change at least 7 guys on the ice so Engineer player shoots the puck at the Denver bench. Penalty too many men on ice right? No call. I usually don't complain about refs but.....
