Mike Eidelbles at inchwriters.com takes a stance on Bennett:

Wow, the comments on that are terrible. How do so many people ignore that every college game ever ends with the winning team jumping over the bench to celebrate with the goalie? Yes, it turned into a scene of mismatched... unpleasantness as soon as Bodie caught Higgs up high, but I cannot believe that any of the RPI players had the intention of starting (or joining) a fight when they swung their legs over the bench.

Re: RPI 2013/14 Part II: The HFH is Covered with Frozen Drivel

I agree.....he saved Appert's life!!!!:eek::D

So, ha-ha, Bennett would have walloped Appert and you think that's funny. Yet, as for RPI storming over the boards to celebrate a win, you suggest RPI is a bunch of thugs. You really need to do some soul-searching to see how hypocritical your whole take on the situation is.

And, for the record, Bubela didn't save Appert's life, he saved Bennett's career.

I found especially entertaining the "intent to injure" angle. I'm not taking the war there, though.

I'm really disappointed in some of the Union reactions to all of this. I see most RPI fans (other than this one jamoke who apparently hates Appert so much that he'll say anything to make it look like this was orchestrated somehow) saying that both teams were in the wrong, even when it was Bodie who lit the match and Carr who started involving players off the bench. Dolan and Curadi certainly didn't comport themselves well in particular... but jeez, you'd think Union had committed approximately zero infractions the way the comments on that story put it - and that Bennett is some kind of hero.

He averaged almost 2 PIM/game will at PC. http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=324. Clearly, he is no angel.

I do add that I don't recall ever seeing him play.

I know a number of Union Fans and their take seems to be "Well, something must have set him off because he's otherwise such a great guy". I wonder, if one of these fans somehow "set off" their coach would their argument still make sense when he's shoving them around?

Anything to dim the true result of the game: RPI beat Union.

Who is the RPI coach hiding behind the Ref while running his mouth? Classic P-ssy move!

Our video coordinator, actually, and I don't think it's a "P-ssy" move when Bennett is in rage mode and looks like he'll tear your throat out.

That kid's position with the team should be terminated by Appert sometime this week. You can even tell in the video that Appert and Graham are shocked when they find out that he's down on the ice.

Was thinking that myself, I didn't think he had any business being down there and certainly shouldn't have been laying hands on Bennett.

Surprisingly, I agree and hope that happens, and wouldn't be surprised if that happened.

Re: RPI 2013/14 Part II: The HFH is Covered with Frozen Drivel

I have read with interest many of the posts. As an RPI fan, I was very troubled by what transpired after the game. I personally wish they would discontinue this third game against Union as I have felt for a long time that nothing good comes of it. Union has a long history of going after RPI's best players in particular, often with intent to injure (Chase Polacek comes to mind among others) and other players in general. That is why I no longer attend the RPI game at Union, even though it is about a 7-minute drive from my house, and why I also gave away my ticket for Saturday's game. I don't enjoy watching a game in which I am just hoping the team survives without any injury. I had expected that Union would get away from the cheap stuff as they improved as a team, but I guess maybe that's part of how they got there!

It seems too that the coach is the leader and driving force. He sets the tone, and well, the tone is not good. The college's response does not appear to be well thought out. It says that they feel the need to send a message but the message is a mere slap on the wrist. His offense is despicable and worthy of a lot more than that. I suspect he will get more when the league/NCAA delivers their decisions. Bodie should get more too. He was clearly out of line and precipitated the whole mess.

Must be related to Bodie, they seem to handle the situation in the exact same way.

I keed, I keed, in all honesty he had no right to be there and should be fired as others have mentioned if he isn't a coach but one of the AV guys. That being said, he was pulled away from more fighting. Bodie skated his *** away.

Yeah I loved that. Started the whole thing then stood there and watched it all unfold until Zalewski confronted him. Reminds me of something a squirt or Pee wee would do.
