RPI 2011 Recruit Thread

Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread

Exactly my point. Predicting the future with 20-somethings is tricky at best. Seeing how long it took him to get "ready" to come to Troy, anything could happen.

As to Red Cloud's comment about him being a sophomore next fall; athletically he would be a second-semester freshman. He wouldn't be a sophomore until the spring semester. I don't think it matters, because you just don't know if he will stay the full four years anyway.

You don't get 8 semesters of eligibility, you get four years. If he plays a game in the 10-11 season, he has played EVERY game in that season for athletic eligibility purposes.

Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread

Much as I would like to agree with you-JL would stay four years if his education was important to him. If he is coming just to play hockey and move on to another level, hard to predict how long he might stay. In any economy money talks and if he receives an offer that is considerable he might do as BP and JD'A did.

IMHO, if this were true, we would have lost Polacek over the summer. The NHL may be desperate, but they still have some standards when it comes to the size of the players. Chase is a fabulous player, don't get me wrong, but most scouts have said he's too small to be effective in the NHL.

Now, if JL happened to grow a bit and get a lot of muscle, it may be possible that we'd lose him early.

Matt Neal's OJHL page http://ojhlsite.stats.pointstreak.com/playerpage.html?playerid=3194508&seasonid=5985

Frank Neal, Matt's father, is a Maple Leaf scout http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Hockey/NHL/Toronto/2010/02/25/13020926-qmi.html. I wonder if he had a part in drafting JD'A.

Last year: STOUFFVILLE SPIRIT / Matt Neal has been the real deal for the Spirit this season. The 18-year-old forward leads the club in goals (20), assists (24) and obviously points (44) through 44 games. Neal also had a team-high plus-minus rating, a plus 20. http://www.ontariohockey.com/story/...tral_Canadian_Hockey_League_Team_Reports.aspx

Almost a point per game scorer last season, not bad at all.
