Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. III

This is from AHR, a scout had this to write about Zach back in Nov.09:
Not in the same stratosphere as his older brother Jordan. Has some playmaking ability and is nimble on his feet, but Zach is very undersized and lost a lot of one-on-one battles because he doesn’t have the thick trunk his brother does. Even more worrisome is that he was shy about taking a hit to make the play and even ducked out of a few battles. Committed too many bad touches in his own end - overhandled the puck on his own blue line and turned over the puck when an open pass was there.

Some other quick notes from TSN say he has great vision of the ice which makes him a fantastic playmaker with good speed.

Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. III

This is from the newest article on USHR:

Zach Schoeder is a very good skater, and a goal scorer. He led St. Thomas -- a good team, finishing 22-6-0 and falling just short of the state tournament -- with 33 goals.

I should also add they say Schroeder could come to RPI in 2011 or 2012.

Do you think he would come in 2011, simply because it would be a situation similar to Polacek, where if we don't get him right out of high school, he'll end up going to the Gophers?

I would think that if that is indeed the situation, he has agreed to it. What ran through my mind (sorry Red Cloud, wherever you are ;) ), is that it depends upon whether or not Laliberte is coming. They are both small centers, although one is a left-hand shot and the other right.

The list has 4 centers. Who knows if they'll even play that position, or if they'll learn wing and work on getting those really important faceoffs. Yes I know every faceoff is important, but sometimes you have really critical ones, like in the offensive zone while on a penalty kill or at the end of a period, where it's necessary to get off a quick shot.

Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. III

I think its pretty safe to say that SA was in Minnesota on his recent recruiting trip a few weeks back. Probably watched the St. Thomas game on Dec. 14th http://www.mnhockeyhub.com/game/show/1031972?subseason=27330&referrer=205941

He also mentioned he met with another player on the 16th and watched their game later that night on the 16th. So hopefully we'll see another Minn. high school recruit added soon.
...maybe he's looking to 2013? http://www.mnhockeyprospects.com/taylor-cammarata/2010/7/8/taylor-cammarata.html

Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. III

with the additions of Shroeder, brother Jordan played w/JD'A on WJrs, & Haggerty are we seeing the fruits of Jerry being here?

Re: RPI 2011 Recruit Thread Pt. III

So what are the chances Bradley comes in next year because as of now only 2 Dmen are coming in?

On Wednesday, the Dubuque Fighting Saints lost to the Fargo Force 2-1 in overtime. Luke Curadi had a fighting major penalty. http://ushl.stats.pointstreak.com/boxscore.html?gameid=1341475

Curadi's line is now 23-1-8-9-69.
I was wondering if Luke was going to drop the gloves with the Belarus Bruiser Oleg Yevenko. That must have been a heavyweight bout for the ages to see, Yevenko stands 6'7" 225lbs and Luke at 6'5" 250lbs. I notice the fight happened 49 seconds into the game, must have been some chatter during the pre-game skate. :D
