On the plus side, he seems to be a bit more up on the posting thing - his picks were up sufficiently *before* this weekend's games start.
Pfft. Prediction posts before the weekend's games start? Overrated.

Re: RPI 2011-12 Part II: We Like to Post!

Meh. I kinda meant it as an /me, but thanks.

Has anyone else noticed that the old layout for the quick reply (with the smily icons / code / url / img tags and the ability to stretch the reply box [which was really nice for long posts such as the bye / home-ice and PtC threads]) has disappeared? Also, I used to be able to tab between the textbox with the reply, the signature checkbox, and the reply button. That also seems to have gone by the wayside. That and when word wrap gets applied to a line, it doesn't keep words together, it just cuts it off at the character limit to the line.

Is anyone else having these "difficulties" (*insert first-world problems joke here*) or is it just me? Chrome 14.0.835.202, btw.

Tabs are gone, but I still see the stretch thingy, as well as a button to select smileys/link/pic/etc. However let me keep typing and see what happens when I get to the end of the line and find out, OK it looks to keep words together. I'm on Firefox 3.6.23 for Ubuntu, so it may be a Chrome issue.

Hmm. Having the same issues on IE 8 (although I just realized that I can drag and stretch the reply box) and after typing to the end of the line it looks like word wrap works the way it's supposed to. I'm loathe to switch back to FF now, because I use the "drag one tab out of a window and into another window" feature of Chrome way too often, but I might. Bah humbug.

Re: RPI 2011-12 Part II: We Like to Post!

My parents stayed here for graduation. They didn't have any complaints (or at least, didn't say anything to me).

I'll be up for the Saturday game and might show up for the Friday game if I take a half-day from work. I would appreciate meeting more members of the board.
go to Sect.17...you'll meet 8-10?

Seeing that that RPI team still holds over 90% of all NCAA records, it better be top 5

Thanks for the comment HD. Not sure how accurate that number is, but I won't complain. We're very proud of that team, and I know that - at least for me - having the somewhat recent history of that incredible success has kept me on the ship through our tough years (which I hope have now passed, although you most likely disagree, as you are well entitled to do).

If you go hit the Reply or Reply with Quote button you to the Quick Reply window. If you then hit the Go Advanced button it behave more like it used to.

There are things that are better, and things that are worse. Then there are things taht are really weird. For example in the Scores board or the Alumni board (but not here), the thread starter has the ability to lock the thread when posting, and it apparently can not be undone. I did that a while back on the RPI Alum thread amd I almost did it last weekend on Saturday's game thread.

Re: RPI 2011-12 Part II: We Like to Post!

A new USCHO ECAC blog writer, another guy who picks against us. He predicts a sweep by FS. Oh well, let him sleep on us for now...

I wholeheartedly endorse people sleeping on RPI. All of this was said last year... can't recover from losing Pirri and D'Amigo... everyone slept on RPI through the first couple of months.

[borat]NICE![/borat]

I was wrong, the claim is over 95%, not 90%

The next plateau was reached in his tenure as Head Hockey Coach at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s Division I program in Troy, N.Y. Mike took over a program that was struggling at the bottom of the ECAC, a condition that was to change radically over Mike’s ten years on the bench. In the "Addesa Decade," RPI won two Eastern Crowns, and in 1985 won the NCAA National Championship. To this day, Mike’s RPI teams hold over 95% of the NCAA Division I records.

There's also a SQL command at the top of the front page.

I give SA alot of credit for bringing Addesa back for 25th anniversary of National Champ. I have heard that Addesa was very touched.

Well we should expect some homerism in these picks which is why the ECAC Blog picks stood out so much. The CCHA guy thinks we'll score 4x the number of goals that the ECAC guy does. It should be the other way around!

I thought so, too. But, both the "Advanced" reply and Quick have lacked the code / img, etc. buttons that used to exist (believe me, that was the first thing that I checked when this issue first came up a couple months ago). Thankfully? I remembered the format for most of the things that I typically use. What upsets me most is the lack of tabbing (which is apparently not unique to me), the poor word wrap (which I can usually just deal with or when I can't I copy it into notepad and make my post there), and stretching the reply box (which I just figured out today). So, all in all, not really a big deal.

Re: RPI 2011-12 Part II: We Like to Post!

This is to Turk: you told the Hubster and me how to print the game sheet with both teams' info for a game and I'm supposed to have remembered where to get it!...HELP!

Site being referred to for those that are curious.

Don't believe everything you read.

NCAA D-I Record Book (prior to 2010-2011 season) (pdf)

The only records held by Addessa's teams are the Overall Winning Streak (30 games, 11/24/84 - 3/22/85, shared with Cornell) and Overall Unbeaten Streak (38 games, 11/24/84 - 11/16/85). I'd ask you to explain how 2 records can be 95% of anything other than 2.105 or how there can be 2.105 records, but I don't want to hear it and I would prefer if you did not reply at all.

FWIW, Rensselaer also holds another record, the 1952 team scored 8.22 goals per game (148 goals, 18 games).

Also, I have a deeper appreciation for the futility of the 1960s teams... 7.41 goals against per game in 1966 and 6.58 goals against per game in 1967 (#s 6 and 9 in the NCAA era).

You really had to be there in 1966 like i was and I am sure Ralph was. It was my last undergraduate year at RPI and I can remember many of those games in which we just got completely blown out.:(
