Re: RPI 2010 Recruit Thread: Give Me Laliberté or Give Me Death!

I haven't a thing on the Battle lineups...supposed to have been released on 12/12. I did see that the BCHL has announced their All-Star lineups. I don't quite understand how their all-star format works..but anyway-- no sign of Curadi. I note that Nolan Graham will help coach the Coastal squad.

Isn't the BCHL format that an All Star team plays the previous year's champ? (I really should look before I write that.)

Yes, the Battle of Ontario lineup was supposed to have been released on 12/12. The link from the Cornwall paper was the first that I saw.

Re: RPI 2010 Recruit Thread: Give Me Laliberté or Give Me Death!

On Monday, the Olds Grizzlys defeated the Calgary Royals 7-6 in overtime. Matt Tinordi scored a goal. http://www.ajhl.ab.ca/leagues/hockey_boxScores.cfm?clientID=1705&leagueID=3464&gameID=714167

Tinordi's line is now 36-11-10-21-40.

I still think he will turn out to be giving us more than some expected next year. His offense seems to be improving with time.

On paper, he's probably replacing Vassel. He is probably more talented. I do think that he will have to fight for ice time, as will many others.

Heres a full story on potential recruit Colin Stevens being asked to fill in for the US Under-18 team,

http://www.bostonjuniorbruins.com/story4.html

Im hoping RPI can pick this kid up sooner rather then later.

If he has a desire to be back in the C.D. then we might have a shot, but an uncommitted kid getting this kind of press will be getting a lot of offers. Even if Appert tells him the job is wide open, he may not be all that interested in coming in as a 3rd keeper at 'tute. Union lost Vazzano's commitment in the off season under similar circumstances.

He's currently a HS Junior. That would mean that he would arrive in 2011 when York is a senior. He might be willing to be a backup to York for a year, and, conceivably, York may have turned pro before that.

Also, considering that he is playing on an Empire League team this season, he might need two years before going to college.

Ah so, I recall this now that you have rattled the cobwebs in my brain...I recall he was at Albany Academy, where he saw A TON of rubber. In that case, I'm sure Appert is putting the full-court press on for him. :D

Yes, Albany Academy. I suspect that you are correct that SA is really after him. An earlier post from The Scouting News http://board.uscho.com/showpost.php?p=4403918&postcount=250 stated that RPI, Union, and Quinnipiac were interested in him. I suspect that others are now also.

There are guys seeing a decent amount of ice time THIS year that might be fighting for ice time next year. Guys like Smith and Halpern.

I agree completely, although the two whom you named are fighting for ice time this season also. Assuming the four forwards who have committed are coming, and no one else leaves, there will be 18 forwards next season (Polacek, Helfrich, Halpern, Beauregard, Malchuk, Cullen, AAG, Rabbani, Smith, Watts, D'Amigo, Pirri, O'Grady, Lee, Laliberte, Higgs, Tinordi, and Burgdoerfer). That means that six will not dress for each game.

Yeah, but they're quite often GETTING ice time. I mean, the window for Watts next year is going to be pretty small.

Here's my WAG for how this tiers off: Polacek, Helfrich, D'Amigo, Pirri, and Laliberte are going to need to be playing pretty much every game - they're on that level that unless they start goofing off, they absolutely need to be in the lineup when they're healthy, as the first four are already this year. Malchuk, Cullen, AAG, O'Grady, and Lee are pretty much exactly that way right now too. That's 10 right off the top, leaving only two slots generally open, and I think you'd expect to see Higgs more often than not, too.

This is a good problem to have, by the way.

Re: RPI 2010 Recruit Thread: Give Me Laliberté or Give Me Death!

Re: RPI 2010 Recruit Thread: Give Me Laliberté or Give Me Death!

Definitely, a good problem, and we do get our share of injuries and suspensions requiring extra players.

BTW, I don't think that I would include Higgs in that group, He's young and not on the level of Pirri and D'Amigo this year. It might take him a while to become a fixture in the lineup, lthiough that is probably what you are implying.

Edit: One more thing. None of the players whom you mentioned are particulary tall. I think that Cullen is the biggest. Beauregard, Burgdoerfer, Tinordi, and Smith are all bigger, but all probably less talented. We really must start getting some talented bigger forwards.

I think that you will see both Malchuk and Rabbini in the lineup on a regular basis, as the team is going to need some grit and defensive play.
It is a very nice problem to have. :)

Now that is soomething I can agree with 100%-I have been asking for the same thing for years. :)

Re: RPI 2010 Recruit Thread: Give Me Laliberté or Give Me Death!

JL will be playing in the Battle of Ontario All-Star game for the CJHL on January 2. No surprise there. RPI target Eric Ming will be in the Young Stars game earlier that day. http://www.standard-freeholder.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=2220070

Now to to try to find the CCHL roster, to see if Nick Quinn (All-Star) and Patrick Koudys (Young Star) will play.

Edit: If anyone finds anything about whether Quinn and/or Koudys are playing, please post it.

Apparently the earlier article stating that JL will be in the Battle of Ontario All Star game and target Eric Ming in the Young Stars game was premature. They are expected to be chosen, but nothing official has been announced yet. http://www.standard-freeholder.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=2223260

The CJHL website has both rosters listed and JL was selected and is one of the alternate captains. Ming was also selected for the Young Stars game. I havent found anything on the CCHL roster.
