Re: RPI 2010 Off-season thread V: Captain Kennedy and the A-Team

The Notre Dame topic is one at which I snigger...they came to see the B.R.O. a # of times in 2008-9. The asst. coach finally showed up for what was to be the game that would be the springboard to the official visit. Unfortunately, the B.R.O. had been suspended the night before for fighting (AJHL rule...can't remember if it was playoffs or not...that league had a one game rule somewhere). The words the AC said to me rang in my ears for a while, "Is there a character issue with your son? Notre Dame only wants players with the best character..."

We at RPI want characters! Especially when they are 6'5" and hit like a bulldozer.;) BTW, over my 47 years following the team, we have had some real characters before.:p

If JDA can gain 20 pounds of muscle, why can't Koudys? That's why he's playing college: excellent training.

At his size, I would not stop at 20 pounds-He could really become a beast!

Well obviously, given that he is taller than JDA. Just trying to say that college is where it's at to train. It'd be interesting to see if, since they wear helmets, the opponents will mistaken Koudys for the B.R.O. after that kind of training. :D

It also was a slap at Michigan among others. :D I was thinking about saying something, but I calmed down as I read through the article. He also was not entirely correct when he wrote "Jerry D’Amigo wasn’t highly regarded coming into the draft" near the end. He was ranked considerably higher than 6th round although not as high as Tinordi was a year later.

It clearly was the author's intent to paint what JD'A did as better than what Tinordi did, and I agree with that.

I worry about a lot of things in this world, but what flows from the deformed brain of an ill-informed armchair quarterback blog-jockey isn't one of them... :D

This guy can slap away...have at it; JDA isn't going to lose sleep over his backhanded description of this week's events.

Since then, it seems as though ND tends to recruit players from the bar scene in Star Wars ... they've had a rash of arrests and sundry other incidents. I know my story is unrelated to the article, but the mention the author made of Tinordi brought our experience back...I'm done now...

Babo - This board can be very cathartic. If I was your threapist I would say that you hold too many things inside :D and that you need to say more of what's on your mind :p Stop holding back on what you really feel about things  BTW - That school in Indiana has not been the same since Holtz left and they allowed Obama to speak there. Just sayin'.

You should change your Moniker to AspyDeacon...:D

I agree with you...ND and 'progressive-ism' (is that a word?) should never have occupied the same intellectual or spiritual space!

We can't wait for the upcoming RPI season; but we REALLY can't wait for the 2011-12 season!

All of a sudden, the readibility potential of the RPI threads might just become a LOT more interesting. :D

However, I think that "say more of what's on your mind" and "Stop holding back" are the reasons we have "those guys" on the board here.

I don't recall seeing it, but apologies if someone posted this already. USA Today piece on JDA.

"His ascension has been meteoric," Maple Leafs general manager Brian Burke said. "He has come farther in 12 months than most players do in 36 months."

"His greatest asset is his hockey sense," Burke said. "He has a high hockey IQ."

Apparently, the TB Lightning are passing the off-season by taking a walk down memory lane with a series of retrospectives on former players, including Darren Puppa. Some good insight, including the back injury that ended his career, and his itch to get back into the game...through coaching
