Having attended four of the ten, including the two Yale games, I agree with your assessment. The 4-0 game at the Whale was probably the most complete game an Engineer team has played this decade.
I have been away for a couple of days, so if this was already mentioned, I apologize.
I was very happy to see that the rules committee dropped the idea of not allowing icing on the penalty kill. :D

Hopefully next year's list will be much tougher to choose-I expect we will have at least 20-25 victories to pick from;)

My thought too.

They haven't completely dropped it. If we play a Canadian team either this year or next, bring your hard hat.

I wonder if we have any interest in this guy (Cody Sarmiento) who was just signed by the Cornwall Colts http://www.standard-freeholder.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=2662802. We will have a vacancy for a forward from Florida after the upcoming season. :) He's a '91, so I assume that he will be interested in moving on.

Wow, he lands in Cornwall from Florida, via Ohio...not your typical hockey path.:p The kid has only played 18 or so games the last two years at Gilmour, he'll need to be in a lot better shape to make it through the upcoming Colts season. The fact that Ray Sheppard liked him enough to convince MacInnis to bring him north is quite interesting, especially since they'll only have him a year.

It looks like he played 15 games last year and 3 the year before in the league that Gilmour plays in (including Canadian schools). http://www.pointstreak.com/players/playerpage.html?playerid=3506178&seasonid=5277. I strongly suspect that Gilmour also plays local teams. Conceivably in 08-09 he also played for the JV team and was only brought up to the varsity for the playoffs.

Edit: Yes, a lot of other games http://www.gilmour.org/page.cfm?p=128&teamID=34&display=Schedule

All of which begs the obvious question -- how many games did he really play and what were his point totals for the entire season? Should've known better than to trust the Standard-Freeloader... :D

I stopped by the HFH yesterday and saw the progress on the old girl...lots of metal work going on on the inside, as well as work progressing on opening up the windows above the front entry.... I took a picture with my phone, but have no idea how to convert into url form to post here....:p

I agree about the last statement, but one can make a similar comment about the Troy Record.

I didn't find any more complete stats but I didn't look that hard.

E-mail the pic to yourself, put it up on webspace (use facebook if you don't have any, you could also send the pic directly from your phone to facebook), then right-click the picture, copy image location, post.

This is based upon 8 October for the start of next season.

Full stats for Gilmour don't appear to be on the net (well I did find quite a lot for Doug Gilmour as well as Happy Gilmore ;) ). I add that Sarmiento probably played for Gilmour's prep team in 08-09, it's just that the league only posted anything starting with the 09 playoffs. I suspect that is also want the Standard Freeholder used.

This thread is moving right along-is it too early to come up with titles for RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread V?;)

Winning ECAC and National Championship would help student experience :)

Nothing like talking college hockey at the dog park when its 85 degrees out. Was at the park with my boston terrier today and I was wearing my RPI hockey hat, this woman says oh my daughter goes to BU and they are the Terriers and they have a really good hockey team. After I laughed for a few minutes I said yes and they play RPI every year it seems and tend to lose to RPI often. Bring on the season I am so ready.

I'm not sure about often; I'd say it's fairly even, at least in the past few years, with maybe the slightest of edges to BU. However, we are one of the few teams (if not the only) that is undefeated at Agganis.

Some quotes on HFboards about Foss in Preds camp from fans that were in attendance:

- Foss plays with quite the nasty streak to his game. Drove two players through the net in a drill today and then another quite forcefully a little later. Doesn't shy away from contact. Plays a simple game, but hadn't seen that side of his game till today.
Last note about Foss. He owned Oliver with the hit of the day in a 2 on 1 w/backchecker drill today. Oliver was coming in down the wing with the puck, Foss read support from the backchecker picking up the second forward and stepped up as Oliver tried to cut to the middle with his head down as bobbled the puck in his feet. A clean open ice hit that leveled Oliver. Lambert immediately stopped and changed the drill up. Could've been by design, but I think he really read the situation and didn't want anything to break out in terms of retaliation. That hit hurt...
Foss and Ekholm on the blue line have both looked pretty solid. Nothing spectacular but solid. Foss goes to RPI which has a tendency to put out players who are good defensively. Could be a nice find if he pans out. Good defensive defenseman.

Maybe I'm not really paying as well of attention as I should be, but I haven't really seen much of this from Jeff in his past 3 years at RPI. I would love to see more of this from him in his senior year. Plant a few puck carriers on their rear, and get the crowd riled up,
