I'll refrain from another BP and "plug" joke.

From facepalm to headdesk to the potential invention of the balconyjump.

Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread IV -- It's Looking Like No "I-V" Is Necessary!

I don't agree - there are plenty of examples of kids from big time D1 schools who have declined offers from their draft teams opting instead to return to school for another season. Rhett Rhakshani at DU comes to mind off the top of my head from last season, but I know there are plenty of other recent examples.

Certainly, the lure of the signing bonus is real, but as Babo and others have mentioned, many a career has been damaged or lost due to bad timing at making the jump. If you jump too early and flop, often times the "win now" mentality forces teams to jettison you for the next "big thing" in the pipeline.

With luck Pirri, his family and his advisor will weigh all of this and make the decision which is best not only for his bank account, but for his career. One need only look across town to Union's TJ Fox who jumped after a 37 pt. frosh season when San Jose flashed the cash. Not only has Fox failed (so far) to make the "dance"..but San Jose dumped him and he spent last season in Wheeling (ECHL). He's now headed to Europe.

Perfectly stated!

I was hoping the evolution would've made it headonfire. D'oh.

Correct. Blake Wheeler is another example. Didn't sign with Phoenix and after 4 years became a free agent and then a Boston Bruin. If Pirri has what it takes then waiting one or two more years won't hurt him at all - no matter how much he fends off Chicago's offers.

Today is 21 July 2010. There are 79 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 8 October for the start of next season.

This appears to be an abbreviated version of the story linked here earlier.

I'd say that it is another reporter who must have heard Bowman give the same evaluation as in my earlier link.

Having only one Zamboni isn't a bad thing in itself. If you are idiots from Schenectady, then yes it is. For those of you who weren't there, a few years ago at Union they decided to throw out t-shirts between periods. A woman sat on the back of the Zamboni and threw t-shirts into the crowd as the Zamboni cleaned the ice against the boards. Having reaped all of the benefits of a Union education which gave her the sense of a confused pigeon, she assumed that because the glass was clear it must not be there, so she threw a t-shirt directly into the boards (from the top of a zamboni that was flush against the boards). It fell, got sucked up into the Zamboni, and broke it, leaving the entire crowd to wait an extra 30 - 60 minutes while they fixed it. A problem easily remedied when you have two Zambonis.

Great story...me thinks there would have been a shorter wait if the solo zamboni was at RPI :p

RC: I hope you are cataloguing these on the site?...I intend to read them...someday. (Likely on vacation !) :p

Wicked! I'm surprised at you! I think RC's articles are the difference maker on this thead...you all are doing the best you can trying to remain timely. RC puts his time in to really educate [me, at least]...and you want them archived? That deserves a face palm (not, in my humble estimation, the ever more grave head desk) Just for that you only get a half portion of my home made Irish Cream the next time we meet at HFH... :p :D

For anyone interested, the Chowder Cup is this weekend. It's become 'Jabba the Hut-like' in size...about 85 teams...but it's fun; the players get to step up the intensity from summer league and see guys they've played with/against in the past. B.R.O. is playing on Power Edge Hockey, coached by Quinn's Dad.

If there are any players any of you wish to hear about, let me know and I'll have the hubster help me with some semblance of an recap. If any of you find yourselves in the Boston area, come watch a game.

Everyday from about 6:00 to 6:30 eastern time posts go into limbo. As you found out, they eventually show up.

I am looking though the rosters. On the CD All-stars is Mark Knowlton, probably a son of the Colonel. More maybe to follow. I do have some interest in someone who will be playing in the Women's CC a week later, but I probably shouldn't mention the name.

Scary that you know this. Why does that happen?

Because she's not an official recruit yet? You can tell me...it'll be just between the two of us;)

Paul and Joe Ramieri of CHE blue have both been mentioned in connection with RPI. The name Sean Blunden (College Prospects) came up, but I don't remember what the connection was.

There are also these two guys, Luke Curadi and Nick Quinn, on Power Edge Hockey. :D BRO is listed as 6'6".

I probably missed someone,

I suspect that USCHO runs maintenance programs at that time everyday. I fallen into the trap also on more than one occasion before I realized it was a daily occurrence.

Far from official, last I heard, which was last month, but she has gotten D-I interest. It's a daughter of a cousin, and it isn't RPI. :(

The height is no typo...we have the grocery bills to prove it.

I will take copious notes (and fortunately there will be some hockey guys there who can give input.
