Don't start Ralph....your in the running for our year end silent but deadly button pusher of the year award !!!

:D I am a pessimist, but after last summer, do you blame me? York has steadily improved in his 2.5 years at RPI. I would think that he could continue to do that at RPI. It probably depends upon where he stands in Columbus's depth chart.

High praise from the opposing coach for York. I knew he was good, but to hear that from an opponent makes me think he is even better. :)

I've heard Cornell fans praise York, and some of them think that they wrote the book on goaltending. This guy is the real deal.

I actually enjoy this thread and wish Yale fans were as intense about hockey as you guys. I just don't understand why even you rabid RPI fans can't see that your penalties are your undoing. The Coach may be great, but even he complained about his guys not staying out of the box yesterday. If they keep the hands of the masks and stop hitting after the whistle they avoid what this whole thread is about, whining about the refs every week. The coach needs to instill that discipline in his team.

Nice win tonight, Brown is a good team.

Part of real hockey is physical intimidation. From time to time that translates into penalties. The downside of penalties is that the other team might score. However, the upside of physical intimidation is that teams who play the fast style start to keep their heads up and the tempo can be affected.

Penalty Summary
-- 1st --
Rensselaer 1st - 00:34 Foss, Jeff: TRIPPING
Yale 1st - 05:47 Root, Jesse: INTERFERENCE

Rensselaer 2nd - 04:22 Foss, Jeff: CROSS-CHECKING
Yale 2nd - 06:59 Mason, Brendan: TRIPPING
Rensselaer 2nd - 11:38 Dolan, Bo: HITTING AFTER WHISTLE
Yale 2nd - 20:00 Cahill, Chris: TRIPPING
-- 3rd --
Rensselaer 3rd - 06:46 Higgs, Brock: TRIPPING
Rensselaer 3rd - 09:11 Leboeuf, Guy: TRIPPING
Rensselaer 3rd - 10:08 Bailen, Nick: TRIPPING
Yale 3rd - 11:32 Anderson, Jeff: HOOKING
Yale 3rd - 17:31 Martin, Jimmy: HOLDING
Rensselaer 3rd - 17:31 Cullen, Patrick: FACEMASKING
Yale 3rd - 19:58 Miller, Andrew: CROSS-CHECKING
Penalty Totals
Rensselaer: 18 minutes on 9 infraction(s) Yale: 12 minutes on 6 infraction(s)

The face mask call resulted from the overlooked Yale 'hug-athon' by Martin...which the ref didn't seem to want to notice. Hitting after the whistle will happen ANY time our net gets crashed or an opponent tries to set up shop in the crease. I would have accepted your argument if you'd referenced the tripping penalties (and some of those were debatable). But that would negate your argument that the coach needs to discipline the "chippiness" as a good number of all tripping calls are spontaneous or incidental.

Your video is a Yale scoring recap. Please tell me that was done in good faith and not to rub anything in? Because I want to believe that you showed up to be 'sportsmanlike'...

From the CBJ website, there is no way to gauge where he sits in the pecking order. He is listed as the 4th Goalie but I don't know enough about their starter, backup or affiliate players...the only thing I think may weigh in our favor is that goalies are later 'bloomers'...hope that's the case here...

I have no control how Yale Athletics edits it's videos, I have mentioned to the videographer that he should show all goals on his recap videos. It was not to rub anything in, just another resource for interested parties.

The two goalies on the NHL team are both NHL vets but nothing to write home about.
As for the goalies in the system, two are younger that York and should take some time to develope. The other has been around the AHL with little success.

Here is the list, if anyone knows anything about the other prospects, we would appreciate your sharing. :)

So does Ralph have reason to be pessimistic? I tend to think no. Don't ask me why as I have not gone that far into my brain today. I just sense that both York and Columbus will do really wonderful things together...a little ways down the road...

Yale is the ideal training ground of Presidents -- they learn how to distort the news there.

I hope that you are right.

Re: RPI 2010-11 Part II: RPI, the Other Team, the Refs -- We're outnumbered 10 to 6.

Appert's quotes about Rogic tell a pretty big story IMO - we as a team very frequently go to a short bench and sometimes roll just 2 lines in tough or close games. The fact that SA had Rogic's 3rd line out matching up against Brown's top line all night shows what kind of faith the coach is developing in his supporting players. If we are a team that is going to make noise nationally, we are going to need to depend on 3+ lines to do so.

Great point GR. I think this is why we give up late goals because at the end of games the top lines and D corps are out there for extended periods of time.

I think you're right Babo? Not only because you're drop dead gougeous but I have heard that most goalies don't really develop until there in there mid 20's. Of course there are the rare cases.

Yales skates circles around the truth.

Re: RPI 2010-11 Part II: RPI, the Other Team, the Refs -- We're outnumbered 10 to 6.

Union's effort vs. Yale makes our closely fought, decided-by-penalties game that much more impressive. Couple that with a dominant performance over Brown and it's possible we'll leapfrog Union in the polls.

Looking forward to next week's game vs. BU; hopefully we'll have at least one of our injured centers back.

Yale could wind up the #1 team in the country. When was the last time an ECAC team reached that peak?
RPI certainly showed that they could play with Yale even down a few players. I am glad that I already have my tickets for the freakout.

I don't think it has happened since UVM with Perrin & St. Louis. Did any ECAC teams find a way to beat UVM when they were #1? :D
