I didn't see how it happened....Did anyone out there see it ?

There was a scrum in the UConn crease, lots of bodies piled up. After all the players cleared out of the crease, he (CJ Lee) was just laying there on his stomach motionless. From that time to the time he left the ice it was about 15-20 mins. It was a scary scene, one that I wish I never have to witness again. My thoughts are with him and his parents.

(from the score thread, which seems to have quieted down): Don't recall seeing either LeBoeuf or Koudys out there in the third period. Actually, know for sure that Koudys didn't take a single shift in the third.

I thought he looked really good out there tonight, so I'd be surprised if it was for performance-related reasons. Hopefully he isn't hurt.

Also, of course my thoughts are with Lee's family. I believe (but am not certain) that his mom was at the game.

thoughts and prayers are obviously with them.... both his parents were standing at the door to the ice

Thoughts are with CJ Lee and his family. I hope to never have to witness that again.

Looking at the replay: Cullen and Lee were charging the net, Cullen was coming from the far side across the front of the goal and Lee was coming in on the diagonal. Cullen had a massive collision with UConn's Cooper a couple feet from the far post which launched Cullen at least 2 feet into the air and out toward the front of the goal. Cullen's airborne leg came in to contact with the side of Lee's helmet with a lot of force, causing Lee to fall toward the goal. Lee was in innocent bystander in the play and just happened to be in the wrong place during Cullen's flight.

All of us at RPI TV wish CJ Lee the best; I, like the rest of the Field House, was on the edge of my seat the entire time hoping for a positive resolution.

RHam's description is how I witnessed it. Cullen was indeed airborne and I wondered aloud whether one of his limbs clipped C.J on the way by. A scary scene for sure. As gutsy a win as it was, after C.J.'s injury, I was indifferent as to the outcome....But there is NO doubt the boys rallied for C.J.

My thoughts and prayers are with C.J. and his family.

Yes, CJ's collision certainly put a damper on what was a shootout of a game. I spoke with one of the EMT's who origionally attended to him on the ice - he stated his neck hurt/tingled a little, but he could move all his extremities,. as Schott confirmed.

Bryce was certainly not on his A game tonight...anything that was above his glove side shoulder seemed to sail right in. Glad to see our guys pull a gutsy one out. I do expect Allen in goal tomorrow and some line changes.

One last note - I won the 50-50 tonight! That was a nice little bonus. I look forward to the title game tomorrow.

Just to reassure of everyone, CJ has been released from the hospital. Considering how scary things were on the ice, I thought I would pass this info along. My boyfriend and other members of the team went to the hospital after game.

One thing we should also consider: When is UCONN's tournament? They wanted to try to do the Lake Placid Showcase around Christmas, and I know Seth and Nate like to schedule one before ECAC play begins. Unless we decide to do our home/home early (or at least spread it out).

It's between the Holidays this year. I assume that it will also be then next season.

From Weaver's article http://www.troyrecord.com/articles/...4cf0a3ce03e6b745339483.txt?viewmode=fullstory

Lee lay motionless for more than 10 minutes, but was moving after he was put on the stretcher and later, RPI coach Seth Appert said later at Albany Med that “all the tests were negative. (Lee) was a little groggy but he was in great spirits and the early indications are there is no injury to the brain.”

Can't even venture a medical opinion-it would be important to know if CJ just took a hit to the head and fell awkwardly. It sounds like a neck injury or possibly a hard hit to the head causing some confusion (?? mild concussion). Teams are notorious for not releasing injury information so we may not find out. Here's hoping he recovers quickly and is back on the ice quickly. This tem is finding ways to win games that in past seasons we have lost. The heart is there and there is no quit. We can only hope the injuries are minor and we get CJ and JFK back quickly.

Ch. 13 ran video of the play on their a.m. news. C.J. definitely got hit in the helmet by Cullen's skate as Patty sailed (truly) through the air. Lee fell face first into the back of the net and didn't move.

Thanks for the update Alinn. I bet he is a sore kid this morning. Here's hoping he doesn't have any lingering concussion-type side effects.

Scary!. Glad to hear Lee is not seriously injured.
Would rather have the medical staff be conservative to ensure player safety.
Hope CJ is back on the ice soon.

( I believe Lee played with DU's David Makowski at Green Bay. )

Once again I am proven wrong (Merriam) :D, reminding me once again why I am sitting up in the stands. Bryce was shaky...he seemed to squat down before shots were released, giving up far too much of the top half of the net. I think at least 3 and maybe 4 of his GA's were up high. That's said he didn't get much help from the upperclassmen D pairing last night. Muffed clears, turnovers in front, zero physicality. They really struggled in the final minutes. They need to step up their game in JFK's absence.

Bailen had another "Charlie Hustle" night...he's a warrior. Dolan is smooth and decisive -- he is small, but he he has all the makings of a puck mover and seems to be benefitting from playing/practicing with Bailen. He is not afraid of physical play. Koudys and LeBouef were solid again, not sure why they were limited down the stretch (again, thats why I'm in the stands.:))

Chase was on fire most of the night - the GWG was Hobey-highlight worthy, I hope the RPI folks captured it.

As good as Chase was, Appert thought Brutlag was the MVP and I agree. Two plays in particular stood out. One was on the PP when Bailen pinched in deep on the rush and Brutlag realized this and automatically rotated out to cover the point, preventing a UConn odd man rush the other way. The 2nd was when Chase won the final faceoff in our zone and Brut pinned the puck along the boards with about 3 UConn kids on his back, killing the final 10 seconds and sealing the W (instead of trying to clear the puck through a sea of UConn players.) Smart.

I thought Chase, Tyler Helfrich and Brutlag showed great leadership after Lee went down...you could tell they were hell-bent on winning the game. Excellent job.

Thanks Viz. C.J. did indeed play for the Gamblers.

Your welcome, I don't know CJ very well but I had tears in my eyes when he was down on the ice. Very scary, hate to see that regardless of the team, but so much worse when it is one of "ours". I was surprised they didn't keep him overnight to be honest. I know he was in really good spirits and happy to see his team showing such support.

I agree it was scary -- had a knot in my throat. I can only guess that the tests were overwhelmingly negative for any injury and that CJ must have passed ever cognitive test they threw at him before he was allowed to go home. I'm sure he has been poked and prodded again this morning. :p

Re: RPI 2010-11 Part II: RPI, the Other Team, the Refs -- We're outnumbered 10 to 6.

The GOOD: Polacek and GOulet. Overcoming a 2 goal defecit in the 3rd period. The refs were very fair i thought. The team took a ton of shots. Lee went home with his family, all tests were negative... and i talked mr and mrs lee on the cell phone to albany medical center so they didnt get lost :)
The bad: Koudys just is very young and raw. Merriam let up some awful goals (yes he was rusty but he is what he is a backup goalie)
the ugly: giving up that goal when it was 5-4 with 4 mins left. In our 3 losses all 3 disallowed goals screwed us.

LETS GET THE WIN TONight long time coming for a rpi invitation championship.... bailen will play big and york i feel .
