RPI 2010-11: Houston, We've had a Facelift!

Re: RPI 2010-11: Houston, We've had a Facelift!

Just finished reading the scores thread for Saturday's game. (I was out of town and away from my computer over the weekend, so didn't have a chance until now to find out what had happened.)

I could have looked up the final score right away, of course, but it's so much more entertaining to be able to follow the progress of the game from beginning to end.

Thanks to those who keep these threads going. Even if not many people are looking in while the game is in progress, there's always the chance that somebody may check it out during his lunch break the following Monday. :)

Edit: Glad to see that USCHO has managed to restore the set of emoticons that were in use before conversion to the new format. These are so much more expressive than the set that was originally introduced after the conversion. ;)

Re: RPI 2010-11: Houston, We've had a Facelift!

Thanks. i didn't know that. Is it also like that on his uniform?

I was at the game on Saturday, but did not take notice of the spelling of his name on the uniform. He is very good though, and I will enjoy watching him for the rest of his Engineer career.
He was a lot quicker than I expected.

No, the uniform has the non-special-character spelling of the name. Have any RPI players in recent history had special characters on their uniform?

I am thinking about going up for the CCT/SLU games on 1/7 and 1/8 since I will be a "man of leisure" then. It will also give me a chance to watch the women's team the same weekend. Am I correct that the students will be on break, and so tickets should not be problem even for the North Country schools? (For the men's games. I am positive that the women's games won't be a problem. :D )

I don't think that students being on break will have a huge effect on the number of tickets available. To the best of my knowledge, break games are included in student season ticket packages (excepting, perhaps, the holiday tournament).

SLU has never sold out in the past couple decades. Clarkson has not sold out in recent years, although it gets pretty full so you could get stuck with junk seats.

Why not just buy some now to be safe?

You are correct that the student package includes the winter break games, but does not include the holiday tournament.

SLU sold out 5 years ago. Granted, that was Freakout. :p

I will make it my business to go to at least one of those games...are we celebrating your retirement too?

That's what I meant by "man of leisure". :) Wait until you hear that I am going. As others can attest, I have thought about going to many more games than I have actually gone to.

Will you then be totally retired or will you still be doing something perhaps on a consulting basis? I originally retired in 2001 but Jenny got tired of me doing nothing so I went back as a consultant. Besides I had kept my medical license active and it was sort of a waste if I did nothing.

I will come down there and throw you in my trunk if you start waffling RB...don't think I won't:p

I may go back part time as a contractor. That hasn't been determined yet. The big advantage is that I won't have to clean out 36 years of junk from my office. :D

I understand-we have 48,000 patient charts and all the associated materials (pictures, biopsy reports, etc) in the garage. We are still in the process of slowly shredding everything.

Arggghhhh. The medical scientist in me cries out "NO!!!! that is extremely valuable data!" But then the Rational Person Inside (tm) calms me down, and says "No, you can't have that data, don't even think about it. There is no informed content. There are all sorts of potential ethical questions" Just make sure that data doesn't fall into the hands of unscrupulous scientists. Like me. ;)

The law is specific here in NJ-we have to keep the records for 7 years after the last patient contact unless the patient was a minor. Then it has to be held until at least age 21 plus satisfy the 7 year requirement.

I just bought my tickets for the Union (black Saturday) and Yale (Freakout) games by phone. They charged an aditional $5.00, but I got the tickets in the mail in 3 days. You have to take the seats they pick for you as they would not allow me to choose the sections that I wanted. However, the seats I received were pretty good.
