Re: RPI 2009 - 2010 -- RIP Nathan Marsters

Are you trying to say that every single player on every single one of those teams is loaded with talent?

My [CENSORED AT HUSKER'S REQUEST], you've just uncovered AIC as a legitimate national championship contender.

the team has talent but cant score at will yet.................. we arent finishing hopefully that will come before its to late in the ecac season

union friday is a big test

Re: RPI 2009 - 2010 -- RIP Nathan Marsters

Some video coverage of that forgettable UMass game is up on Youtube. Since it's forgettable, I won't post the link (Look under RPIathletics if you're curious). However:

After watching it, we definitely need to work on our zone defense when on the penalty kill. With two of the UMass goals, one of the up-front guys (usually the one that scored the goal) wasn't even covered! I realize that you can't cover everyone, but right in fron tof the net should not be wide open. One of them was a shot from the "point" (as close in as it was for the 5-on-3) and there's nothing you really can do about that, especially if the puck motion is fast. However, we have to make sure players in front are covered, and we don't turn over the puck coming out from behind the net, like what happened with one of those goals (I think the third). Granted we didn't get too much practice with that against AIC, but it's definitely something to work on.

Re: RPI 2009 - 2010 -- RIP Nathan Marsters

When you wrote that CHN wrote that we don't have any noteworthy additions, do you mean that they did not specifically name any? For none of the teams is there a line "Key Newcomers," and they did write "a very good freshman class," although it was a quote from SA, not necessarily their opinion.

Yes, that was what I was getting at, Ralph. You cracked the code.

Re: RPI 2009 - 2010 -- RIP Nathan Marsters

Was glad to learn from CHN's ECAC preview that Charles Polacek is one of our key returning players, that we didn't have any noteworthy additions to the squad this year, and that we were picked to finish eighth "despite" last year's record.

and this gem...

Now, potential offense may have taken another hit because of controversy regarding two incoming recruits, Jordan Ciccarello and Patrick McEachen.

The two recruits in question play D. Yes I know...D contributes..but

Can someone refresh my memory on the back story behind the Newfie Screech at Manory's?

Frank Gardiner, Pete's father, bought it. I think that it is supposed to be drunk when RPI wins the ECAC championship.

All of this I know. How far back does it go and is there still a "screech club" that meets there on Saturday mornings during hockey season or is the screech all on its own now?

I haven't heard anything in years about it. I assume that it is all on its own. You could email Frank. He still posts now and then on the RPI Sports list.

That thing still active? I haven't been on it in about a decade.

This may have been mentioned by someone whose copy of The Hockey News arrives before mine. Tom Boggie picked RPI to finish 5th in the ECAC. He listed Pirri and D'Amigo as #2 and #3 recruit repectively behind Louis Leblanc.

That's a bit encouraging:)

That's discouraging, considering how much The Hockey News sucks when it comes to NCAA hockey.

That makes sense to me, I suppose.
