Robert Morris 2010-2011 "Colonizing a New World"

Re: Robert Morris 2010-2011 "Colonizing a New World"

... Just need a heads up of your presence 5-hole. Doesn't take too long to hit iTunes for a special request. :)
Thanks Spydey. If it works out, I'll let you know. I do enjoy my country music.

Re: Robert Morris 2010-2011 "Colonizing a New World"

And while I don't think Gary Bettman will mention RMU by name, it's a 'developing story' worth following...

Hope the Pens remember they owe the ACHA Colonials and Penn State for the debacle at the Mellon last January!

Coach Schooley is the master of understatement! ;)

"RMU, like anybody, would love to be a part of the Classic in Pittsburgh," Schooley said. "You're talking about, probably, the biggest outdoor sporting event in the winter in Pittsburgh's history that didn't involve a football game.

"It's a very big deal."

From the "for what it's worth" department.

One of the guys from The Pensblog got a quote from someone with connections who spoke on the condition of anonymity saying that RMU will get to play an outdoor game a day or two in advance of the Winter Classic against North Dakota.

Check out the tweets saying as much here and here.

Little of Column A. Little of Column B. RMU's role in the Classic still has yet to be confirmed, much less defined. And yes, RMU will be playing North Dakota this year -- in January -- The 7th and 8th, at the Ralph.

The situation has a lot of moving parts at the moment. Nothing is sure outside of the Winter Classic game itself.

For what it's worth, neither RMU nor UND have a finalized schedule as of yet (at least from what I've seen) so there could be some schedule shuffling in there at some point if there's anything truthful to this.

Re: Robert Morris 2010-2011 "Colonizing a New World"

That would be great to have a game at Heinz. Not sure what opponents would be available this late in the scheduling game but the right one could net 20 to 30 thousand people in the house.

The wrong one, and I fear not enough people will be willing to sit in freezing cold temps to watch.

The program could take a giant leap forward here in terms of exposure if they do it right.

Re: Robert Morris 2010-2011 "Colonizing a New World"

This year's College Hockey Showcase has been officially announced:
http://www.rmucolonials.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=59620&SPID=6533&DB_OEM_ID=13900&ATCLID=204958762

vs Air Force

Also, USCHO is now showing two games for RMU at North Dakota on Jan 7 & 8.

Yeah, most (if not all) of this years opponents are known... just not the dates.

Colgate is due to make their return trip, their thread says November.

27 AHA games, the only thing I know is we get RIT at the Island twice (again, don't know when).

Supposed to be a trip to Huntsville as well.

That might be it, outside of whatever one-off is scheduled as part of the Winter Classic festivities, and I have no idea who that will/could be.

Re: Robert Morris 2010-2011 "Colonizing a New World"

UConn invades the Island January 14 & 15. Ironically enough, the RMU Women will be playing in Storrs the weekend prior, to make the return trip for last year's Showcase Weekend.

Re: Robert Morris 2010-2011 "Colonizing a New World"

What we know so far... (New additions in BOLD)

Fri Oct 15 @ Ohio State
Sun Oct 17 Air Force (College Hockey Showcase)
Fri Jan 7 @ North Dakota
Sat Jan 8 @ North Dakota
Fri Jan 14 UConn
Sat Jan 15 UConn
Fri Jan 21 @ Army
Sat Jan 22 @ Army

With the trip to UAH and Colgate due to come down to the Island, it looks as if any game associated with the Winter Classic will be a conference tilt... Mercyhurst, perhaps?

8 down...26 more to find out. :) Which I doubt will be today, with the NHL schedule coming out at noon.

Re: Robert Morris 2010-2011 "Colonizing a New World"

When does Robert Morris typically release their schedule?

Re: Robert Morris 2010-2011 "Colonizing a New World"

I'm guessing I really don't need to specify what the big news of the day was, do I? ;)

Re: Robert Morris 2010-2011 "Colonizing a New World"

Smiling like a butcher's dog tonight! So Mr. Tunes, will you be supplying the music at this event?

It's a great day for hockey in the burgh.

Would seem not. The NCAA handles all game production -- Besides, I couldn't use half of my stuff in such a neutral environment anyway

The good folks at the Athletic Department have assured me I will get to do something, but with so much going on to put this show on, they just aren't sure what. :)

They should give you a ticket.
