Hey, we won!

Clearly having Cameron Burt in attendance allowed the team to regain it's ability to beat a ranked team.

Tonight felt like playoff hockey. IMHO best performance by theTigers in a quite a while.
Mitchells goal should make the NC CA top 5 for the week.

Re: >>>>>RIT TIGERS... The Polisseum, just like the Ritter only more of us!<<<<<

Promising weekend. Either game could have easily gone either way, but I think RIT was the better team territorially on both nights. I don't think there's any doubt that Rotolo helped himself tonight more than Ruby did Friday night; their numbers look similar (particularly % wise) but that 3rd goal Friday night in particular is one he's gotta have, and while obviously there's no guarantee he stops Wydo on the breakaway if he doesn't go wandering, he's gotta at least give himself a chance. I suspect that Rotolo will get the start Friday night with a chance to start Saturday if he plays exceptionally well, but the most likely situation is that they'll split the games. If they have comparable games (and comparable results) to this weekend than I would expect Rotolo to be the starter for the playoffs.

Not many permutations for the Tigers for this upcoming weekend regarding playoff seeding since we play Mercyhurst.

4 POINTS: First round bye, 2nd round home playoff series against Mercyhurst as 4 vs 5 matchup unless Bentley loses to both Sacred Heart and Holy Cross (RIT will become 3 seed and play highest ranked winner from opening weekend - likely Air Force or Holy Cross) OR Air Force sweeps Canisius (RIT will play Air Force in the 4 v 5 matchup). If BOTH happen, RIT be the 3 seed and Mercyhurst will drop to 6, meaning RIT v Mercyhurst remains the most likely 2nd round matchup)

3 POINTS: First round bye, home playoff series against Mercyhurst as 4 v 5 matchup in the 2nd round.

2 POINTS: First round bye IF Air Force does not sweep Canisius, 2nd round playoff series will be AT Mercyhurst in the 4 v 5 matchup. If Air Force does sweep Canisius, RIT will host a first round playoff series against either AIC (if Niagara gains 2 or more points against RoMo than AIC does against Army....don't hold your breath) or Niagara (most likely).

1 POINT: First round bye if Air Force does no better than a split against Canisius, 2nd round playoff series would be at Mercyhurst if Bentley manages 1 point against either Sacred Heart or Holy Cross, otherwise it will be at Bentley. If Air Force does take 3 or more points, RIT will play the last place team (same scenario as above) as the 6 seed in the first round.

0 POINTS: First round bye if Air Force takes no more than 1 point AND Holy Cross does not beat Bentley. 2nd round playoff series would be at Mercyhurst unless Bentley ties Holy Cross and loses to Sacred Heart (since Bentley and Canisius both need to take points to maintain our bye) in which case the series would be at Bentley. If Air Force captures a win (or two ties) and/or Holy Cross beats Bentley, RIT's first round series will be against AIC or Niagara. If one of those things happen, RIT will be #6 and play the last place team, if both happen they will be #7 and play the 2nd last place team. In both cases it will either be AIC or Niagara.

Thank you for this.

I said this in the beginning of the season, if RIT plays well, just well they can beat any team in the AHC except Robert Robert Morris. RIT has now beaten every team in the AHC this season. I just hope the momentum carries over to next weekend, I think it will. The seniors need to pump up the rest of the players . I am still in shock RIT has a chance to place in 4th. After all the squandered opportunities for points this season their talent has allowed them to be where they are. The only thing these boys need to do is play 60 minutes. Something up until this weekend was very difficult for them.

Mercyhurst is in a position right now that talent wise they do not deserve but they did a good job taking points from teams they needed to beat. RIT can beat them all day everyday at the Poliseium. RIT has all the right cards. They just need to play them right for RIT to take 4th.

Supposedly it was a almost a sell out if so a lot of fans must have come
disguised as grey seats.
The broadcast crew are so far out of it they should be called the Elmer Fudd and Bugs Bunny show. One doesn't see what's going on while the other tee hees thru out.
Bugs asks is that a word in both games a new standard in broadcasting
Can't they hire someone familiar with the language.?
Just to offer some insight get a tape of Tsn's broadcast. They were
RIT crew but at least didn't get carried away with bilge.

Full credit to mar7967 for finding this, but you have to listen to Mark Fragale from RIT talk about the selection process for finding the announcers for the broadcast. Start at 25:20 at this link http://sportsvideo.org/main/blog/20...cast-producing-hockey-with-rits-mark-fragale/

This frankly infuriates me. I have always found the broadcast to be close to un-watchable, which is sad because the production value is so very high. I understand finding a way to relate to novice viewers, but wouldn't most viewers want to be educated somehow? You can stick to the basics to keep the threshold low. I don't understand who is watching the broadcast who isn't already either a RIT supporter or a hockey fan, it's not like those two are entertaining enough broadcasters to keep the casual fan interested anyways. My hockey IQ plummets every time I hear them talk.

Wilson has shown in the past that he's not going to let sentimentality get in the way of wins. Ropponen rode the bench on his senior night while Madolora (then a sophmore? I think) started.

It depends on if the game means anything. Since it will, I don't expect to see Ruby.

Different situation. Madolora was the clear cut starte all season. Rotolo and Ruby have basically taken turns not grabbing the reins. Given that it's senior night I doubt Ruby doesn't get that start.

Re: >>>>>RIT TIGERS... The Polisseum, just like the Ritter only more of us!<<<<<

The Sabres have four defensemen out (Zadorov for team rules; Gorges (surgery) lost for season; Weber for two weeks with an injury; Strachan with an infection). To compensate, they called up Pysyk and McCabe from Rochester. Burt was already on a PTO to replace Pysyk, and the Amerks signed another D to a PTO to take McCabe's place, so it looks like Burt might stick around longer than I thought. His next chance to impress is as I type at the BCA vs the Crunch.

I agree. I'm pretty sure the guys on TV said Friday before the game that Rotolo would be starting on Saturday so I'm guessing the plan going forward was to rotate them. And since neither of them played poorly I don't expect that to change. And if they're rotating why not put Ruby in on senior night.

If Rotolo starts on Friday and has a huge game and we win, Wilson will probably start him on Saturday too. Points are more important than sentimentality, and we need 4 points to assure ourselves a top 4 spot. The rotation will stop eventually, and I think Rotolo once again has the upper hand and will be given the opportunity on Friday to solidify #1 for the playoffs.

Rotolo came up big when he needed to, including some odd man rushes. He clearly deserves to start right now.

It doesn't matter how he does on Friday, Ruby deserves to play on Saturday. He may not be Madolora like we want but he has still played well for us. It's pretty much a wash between the two anyway. I think the bigger question is does Reid get to play. If there's anyone that hasn't earned their stripes it's him.

"Deserves" is not a thing for senior night. I'm sorry but intentionally gimping the team for the feel goods of starting Ruby on senior night does not make sense. If Rotolo is on a roll you go with the hot hand and build confidence for the playoffs.

I'm sure coach agrees. He seems to care very little for the sentimental stuff...he wants results.

That was an "Interesting" explanation of a decision that really makes little sense. And that's being nice about it. I do want to know how they define success? Traveling from Buffalo, I never got the sense that a ton of people in Rochester watch this broadcast? In Buffalo I have heard some people say they've noticed RIT on TV, but most people care less what is on TWSC, unless their kid in High School is playing on it. They have done a great job in pointing a expensive camera at a hockey game. The replays are professional quality and over all graphic presentations are top notch. But don't insult your audience. Saying they've grown into hockey guys is like saying I've become an aviation expert because I DVR an Air Crash Investigation series.

I give the guys credit now that I have heard this clip. I mean it takes guts to show knowing not much about hockey in the environment and start talking on the Mic. I am not going to just hate on the guys because they are trying to do the job. Enough people did that with Dennis Miller on MNF. But the decision is just mind boggling to me, Rochester is rich with Hockey minded people. Not asking for Al Michaels here, but You couldn't find anyone with experience that "knows the difference between a close line and a blue line"????

And in the spirit of decisions that go against the sprit of common sense, I say Wayne Wilson should start Ken MacLean on Senior Night :D

Never ever go for a goalie just because he is a senior and it is senior night. Ruby has had his moments where he is on. Rotolo made the big saves to keep RIT alive against ROMO to get the win.

Rotolo will get the start Friday and it is up to Rotolo and Rotolo alone to lose that top spot which,he has done pm more occasions than I wish to count.
