Re: >>>>>RIT TIGERS... The Polisseum, just like the Ritter only more of us!<<<<<

For some reason this just happens to certain players. Even in the NHL there is top end talent that despite all their success and stats some fans just rag on them. Surprised to see Burt back playing D since almost his entire college career was at forward. Good for him though

I think in his case it was mostly numbers driven. After his exceptional freshman and sopohmore numbers, a lot of fans were expecting more of the same in his junior and senior seasons. I may have been one of those fans, but eventually came to appreciate all that he was contributing to those '10-'11 and '11-'12 teams despite not scoring nearly as often. He was injured for a bit and did spend a number of games on D when the Tigers hit that injury skid on the back line. He did it all and was part of the heart and soul of that team, but since the numbers dropped many were disillusioned, unfortunately.
I wonder how many players since then have even half the passion for RIT hockey that he had. I'm happy he is enjoying himself in pro hockey and is excited to come back to Rochester. I hope it works out for him. That organization isn't too deep at Defense, especially since letting Myers go. Maybe he'll find a niche for himself here. I really hope he sticks around until March 27, which is the next game I have tickets for.

I imagine an Amerks jersey with "BURT" across the back will be a hot commodity in Rochester.

If any local Amerks fans actually knew who he was it might. Have you seen the general public turnout at RIT games this year? Not many red-white-and-blue jerseys around the GPC.

In my experience, most people that follow the Amerks closely don't think much of RIT hockey so I wouldn't think many would recognize him. My sample size is small though :)

I don't want to dwell on former players too much here, but man if that is the reason people ragged on him, that is ridiculous. In the two years after the frozen four he still scored 60 points in 71 games....

While the numbers didn't seem to support it (like numbers mean anything to posters here), it was suggested that he was a little bit selfish. He did handle the puck quite a bit, sometimes resulting in turnovers.

Well played most of the night but man, what an ugly way to lose a game. Should have stayed in net and fought him off.

What a great save by Ruby to keep us in the game.

Oh wait.

Oops.

Watched Burt at the Amerks game. He didn't look out of place, but the entire squad seemed a bit off today. He had one turnover at his own blue line that led to the third Stars goal, but I think that was his only + or -. His last two shifts of the game were pretty good.

Just back from army-Bentley so I missed the RIT game other than following the score updates on my cell phone. Man RIT is crushing me. I hope this loss makes them more determined and they come out stronger tomorrow.

It looked like (from following live stats) they came out strong in the first but couldn't hold up against Robert Morris' comeback.

Thanks for the update on Cameron. I hope he does great with the Amerks.

Where did Niagara come from last night? 6-1 over Air Force is a crushing blow. If we have to face Niagara in the first round I would be very uneasy. I would rather play any other bottom feeder but them.

Thanks for the update on Cameron. I hope he does great with the Amerks.

I wouldn't count on him sticking, though. Mark Pysyk was out to tend to a family matter last night; I wouldn't be surprised to see him back in the lineup on Sunday. Cam's on a PTO, which means he can just be released when they don't need him anymore.

Postgame interview here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ck9OYKAxYOw&feature=youtu.be -- he doesn't seem too happy with his performance. Yeah, he made a couple of mistakes, but this was only his tenth AHL game.

Oops.

I'm pretty sure that Ruby didn't sleep well knowing that play cost the Tigers at least 1 point. He made the wrong decision on that play.

I suspect Rotolo will be in net tonight. Hopefully he will have a better result.

Tonight's game is close to a sellout, thanks to an 800-seat purchase by one of the colleges. Only single reserved seats and GA left.

When I was a student I loved free games. But the casual student fans grow dependent on this. If you give them free tickets once, they expect it always or will not attend otherwise. I sure hope it was Robert Morris though I doubt Robert Morris even has that many fans.

I just hope the college has a plan to get 800 people to take those tickets that they bought day of game, on a Saturday with Bo Burnham on campus tonight as well...

Otherwise it'll be a "sellout" with an awful lot of empty seats.

One of RIT's colleges.

I didn't say they were purchased today; they may have been purchased months ago for all I know.

And I heard this might be for an alumni event, so I don't think there's any danger of students getting accustomed to free tickets (especially since this seems like a one-off event.) I don't even know if the tickets are free for the recipients; the college may just have reserved a large block.
