Re: >>>>>RIT TIGERS... The Polisseum, just like the Ritter only more of us!<<<<<

What good is comparing yourself to a Bowling Green, RPI, or Alaska - just to name teams that are not consistently getting to the NCAA?

We do all want the best. Certainly we want more NCAA tournament appearances. In their 10 years (8 eligible), they have 1. I bet there are at least 20 teams outside of the AHA/AHC that have that many or fewer NCAA tournament appearances in the time that RIT has been eligible.

Honestly? I think we should be an RPI or Bowling Green. We're not there yet, hence the need to work our way there. RIT has definitely been fortunate in their initial decade of D1 hockey, I just find it a bit disheartening that a lot of our momentum with the FF and the new rink has us in a place where we're fighting not to finish 8th in the AHC.

You're exactly right about Bentley. But there are no Bentley fans whining that we deserve a better conference, despite being a more successful program as of late.

I have to disagree with you here. I missed where someone mentioned that RIT deserves a better conference, I don't think they deserve anything (well, perhaps the right to award athletic scholarships, but that's a discussion for another day).

That being said many of us here wish that we could be in a league with other schools who share the same commitment to Hockey. At face value only, that does not appear to be the case today. Of course this is not to say that there are not excellent athletic programs in AHC, because there are, but there are also plenty of examples of schools that, as a fan, make it very hard to have any sense of pride in the league.

It would also be nice to get as far away from Bob DeGregorio as humanly possible.

Uh oh, some of the straw must have fallen out of the nest into our thread! What's it like going to a game in a rink with glass so filthy you can't see through it? We've got an extra rink on campus if you'd like to rent it for weekends.

Nothing like a little AH chirping, i like it. all i know is winning cures just about everything. (rinks, leagues, recruits, money etc.)

RIT confirmed it on Facebook.

"Congrats to former standout Cameron Burt, RIT's all-time leading scorer at the DI level with 136 points (43-93-136) who will be back in Rochester, as he joins the Rochester Americans. Burt had 36 points on defense for the Florida Everblades of the ECHL this season."

I've already asked my friend to pick one up for me. So glad his career is still going. Second in defensive scoring is nothing to be laughed at.

I never, ever understood how people criticized him when he was a Tiger. He was the most polarizing player of his time on the trollboards despite being one of our best scorers year after year. The record books don't lie. The guy loved RIT and the fans and showed it...yet so many seemed to rag on him.

It feels good to see him being by far the most successful Tiger of the post-Tanev years. For all the praise heaped on guys like Brenner and Favot, only Burt remains professionally relevant.

I've told this story a thousand times and will tell it a thousand times more, but after his last game at Ritter, Burt stayed on the ice longer than anyone else (including the other seniors) after the game ended, and as he skated off he stopped at center ice and kneeled down and kissed the Tiger. It was a great moment that really solidified his reputation in my book.

True.... definitely had a penchant for scoring a big goal and changing the momentum in a game, who can forget the game winning goal in double overtime against Bentley, I'm sure many of you were at the Ritter that night, the place must of been just shaking...

High-def highlights of said game can be found on Youtube!

Edit: Rewatching this for the dozenth time it's clear Garbowsky was a stud even back then. And the big difference between our current goalies and Madolora is made abundantly clear with those OT miracle saves...oh the nostalgia.

For some reason this just happens to certain players. Even in the NHL there is top end talent that despite all their success and stats some fans just rag on them. Surprised to see Burt back playing D since almost his entire college career was at forward. Good for him though
