This is true, but I have a bad feeling about this weekend. I would never count Niagara out when playing RIT. Niagara will always bring their A game.

Often, but not always. Niagara sucked on December 12. They did play much better the next night, though; they're a tough out at Dwyer.

Our non-RIT rooting interests for the weekend:
AIC over Mercyhurst, Sacred Heart over Air Force, Robert Morris over Canisius, and Holy Cross and Bentley to split. I would not be surprised if 2 of these happen.

Random but, when did the AHA become the AHC? Did I miss some big announcement?

Nope, you didn't miss anything. I first noticed it in the early season on some of their Press Releases, and then asked about it when RIT started using AHC. As I said on twitter, kinda surprised they didn't make a big deal out of the name change, or formally announce it.

Don't forget for you Rochesterians, the RIT @ Niagara game will be shown on Time Warner on channel 26. You can even mute the sound and listen to the radio guys if you want.

TWC must be carrying it statewide as I'll be watching it in Utica tonight. The only reason I keep cable is because TWC carries all of the Tiger home games.

Yeah, if you don't mind a 7-second delay between them. Less if you stream WITR on the web, I suppose.

If they want people to make the switch, they need to do this. Even the AHA commercial that airs during broadcasts calls it "Atlantic Hockey Association" -- and the ad excludes UConn, so it's not like it's just an old commercial.

Well, RIT officially slays the Dwyer demon with a blowout win tonight.

Based on the radio guys, Rotolo played a great game. 2/3 of the goals against him went off his own defensemen, and the other was a shorty. Can't be upset with the end result!

Re: >>>>>RIT TIGERS... The Polisseum, just like the Ritter only more of us!<<<<<

The key was getting ahead early. Niagara looked terrible early. It was like watching some early season RIT games where they committed a turnover and it wound up in the back of the net.

Coach has to stress that Niagara will come at them pretty hard tomorrow. Now is not the time to rest on their laurels, especially when they got some of the help they needed.

Did anyone make to Niagara Falls last night? They had a pretty large crowd, I would assume 40% of the fans were RIT.

Tonight is a big test. RIT needs to sweep tonight. Because it looks like the rest of the schedule could be a split at best each weekend...

I was there. There were small clusters of orange in the crowd, but I wouldn't say 40% were RIT fans. Maybe 20% at most.

Visiting an arena like the Dwyer really makes me appreciate what we have at RIT. We are very lucky to have the facilities and the fans that we have.

I agree this game is huge. They have to take care of business against the weakest team in the league in terms of record, and from what I saw. Niagara looked bad last night. I don't expect them to be that bad tonight - but I hope they are.

I will say that the Tigers have to score early again. They have to win the battles in the boards. They CANNOT think it will be easy.

I don't like looking too far ahead in the schedule now. One think I think is that RIT is playing better now than when they played Holy Cross and Robert Morris earlier and we shall see about Mercyhurst. They have to be able to score wins against teams like this to get that first round bye and host quarterfinals.

Re: >>>>>RIT TIGERS... The Polisseum, just like the Ritter only more of us!<<<<<

Considerably off topic but jungle telegraph notes a geographically logical ND move to
NCHC with an even more logical (and desired in certain quarters) Q Pac departure from
ECAC to fill the ND void.

Raising once again a RIT connection w/ its Liberty League cohorts in the ECAC
Perhaps w/ CU as a travel partner? One can only hope

Unfortunately there is the little matter of Holy Cross and perhaps others

RIT would love to get to ECAC - and the GPC is huge in being ready should they be included. Getting a travel partner would be the problem. IF Holy Cross looked into going ECAC, they may be more desirable to the league due to geography. What could work in RIT's favor is if Q's women's team goes to Hockey East, that RIT could play in the ECAC where Holy Cross's women's team plays DIII.

Nice synopsis. It's true that ECAC has a strong women's league and RIT being able to step right into that league as well would be a big plus (not to mention the GPC).

So disappointing we need to beat a 3 win team

Re: >>>>>RIT TIGERS... The Polisseum, just like the Ritter only more of us!<<<<<

Yes disappointing especially after being up 3-1 and then giving up three straight and not being able to come up with a big stop down the stretch but nonetheless we didn't give up the empty net and were able to tie it at the end of regulation and salvage a tie. On to Holy Cross and week to talk about who will be in goal on Friday... :)

Re: >>>>>RIT TIGERS... The Polisseum, just like the Ritter only more of us!<<<<<

Re: >>>>>RIT TIGERS... The Polisseum, just like the Ritter only more of us!<<<<<

Nice comeback to tie it up, set up by 10 minutes of sloppy play letting Niagara back in. Sure would have been nice to see a big save on one of those breakaways. Sure doesn't settle the goalie situation. One of these guys have to step up.

Re: >>>>>RIT TIGERS... The Polisseum, just like the Ritter only more of us!<<<<<

Re: >>>>>RIT TIGERS... The Polisseum, just like the Ritter only more of us!<<<<<

We either need a return to the stellar goalie play we once were used to, or we need a return to power play scoring percentages like we once were used to. Either one would have us in second or third place instead of fifth.

On the bright side, 6 out of 8 points from Niagara on the season isn't bad, considering they always seem to rise to the occasion when RIT is the opponent.
