So it seems we've lost one of our big recruiting selling points. I guess Coach will have to mention a little asterisk or caveat when he talks to recruits about our class championship streak.

RIT Alumni Relations is hosting another men's hockey Livestorm event on April 27th, 5:00pm EDT. This event will focus on the 10 year anniversary of the 2010 Frozen Four appearance by the Tigers.

Join former RIT Tiger Men’s Hockey players Chris Tanev from the NHL’s Vancouver Canucks, and Jared DeMichiel, Assistant Head Coach at UMass Amherst, as they reminisce with RIT head coach Wayne Wilson. Ed Trefzger and Scott Biggar will once again be the moderators.

Register at: https://app.livestorm.co/rit-alumni-association/hockey-conversation-with-wayne-wilson?utm_medium=email&utm_source=imodules&utm_campaign=dar-ve4202020

Due to an NHLPA meeting, the next Livestream event will start at 5:30pm EDT on Monday, April 27th. Thanks to those who have already registered.

Is there a recording of this event somewhere?

Thanks!

Listening into Ask Munson (and Bob Finnerty) on WITR right now - They said that Atlantic Hockey (and CHA) are still working through details of season plans and more should be announced in the next week or two.

I can't imagine we're going to see hockey this calendar year, and honestly anytime this academic year might be a stretch the way things are going nationally. The only bright side is that locations where the AHA footprint is are actually doing relatively well, but that leaves a bunch of midwestern/western teams in the lurch. No way the Big Ten, for example, starts play before they start playing football.

No surprise, but Men's and Women's hockey officially delayed. Rumors that Nov. 20th is a targeted hoped for start date, but also it's pointed out that Ivy league schools will not play until Jan 1st at the earliest.

Which is fine, except that they haven't said anything about if, when, and how many of the fans will be allowed back in.
The way most campuses are handling the rules for the general student population, I have a hard time imagining that we'll be back in the arena to watch any time soon, if at all this season.

Not sure if anyone else is watching the rebroadcast of the 2010 East Regional game, but before airing it, Kevin Roche from Sportszone was interviewing Coach Wilson. Coach shared a few items:
-League is expected to announce plans on Wednesday or Thursday of this week. Expecting to start sometime in November (he said hopefully early-mid November, but could be late November too).
-Expect to see lots of "pod" play with limiting plane trips and hotel stays. Obviously we will have to travel to Air Force when they come off the NY Quarantine list
-Expect multiple games against RMU, Mercyhurst, Canisius, Niagara, etc. but no hotel stays so down and backs, split weekends, weekends with days off (ie play Thursday and Saturday).
-Focus is on league games, with a few opportunities for OOC games if schedules permit (he said something about having 2 weekends free for it)?
-Will try to reschedule Notre Dame for a Brick City weekend in the future, but not the next 2 or 3 years as those opponents are set already.

Thanks for this Mar. I see that they did indeed announce details of the upcoming season today, schedule has not been set but you are right, by the time the regular season is over I suspect the Tigers will know the opposition team players by their first names, probably know their siblings, girlfriends, family members names too. Playing Canisius, RMU, Niagara, and Mercyhurst five times each, then two each against AF and LIU. I hope they can pull this off... here's the link (and excuse me if I don't get it right, first time on the new page...yes, it's been awhile...).

So...are we still on for next weekend as the ATL Hockey website says? Or has the latest spike pushed things back? (and if it has, I'm not sure we'll get any hockey, tbh)

I know the schedule delay was to try to iron out a non-conference game for the this upcoming weekend (13th/14th), but on October 30th, when RIT posted that they were on the edge of the orange level in their covid plan (https://www.rit.edu/news/covid-update-edge-orange), They said:
  • All intercollegiate athletic team, club sport, and intramural activities and practices are temporarily suspended. This will be reviewed in 10 days.

I haven't heard anything further.
