What's the over/under on how bad tonight's going to be?

Re: >>> RIT Tigers 2016-17: That was fun; let's go for three!

Took all of 30 seconds for RMU to get called for a dirty boarding penalty...

Re: >>> RIT Tigers 2016-17: That was fun; let's go for three!

Looks like its another parade to the penalty box for the Tigers... 8 straight halfway through the game is going to be this team's undoing...

And yet, they won! Unexpected but a nice night

Kwm was right. Nice observation before the game.
Getting Brady back was a good shot in the arm. Good result and yes for me this one was unexpected. We can't settle for a split though with a chance to get in the top five. With Canisius and AF pulling away a bit that leaves the next three spots up for grabs.

He was spot on! Looks like they were able to get the rebounds and put tem in the net. Hoping for more of the same tonight and a few more losses by the other teams in the middle of the pack.

Not sure I've ever been so happy to be wrong! Here's hoping this helps the momentum point in a better direction

Overall we can't complain about the split but man, when was the last time we stole a game? You almost felt like we were going to give up that lead, playing with only 5 D-Men, hope everything is okay injury wise.

According to the postgame, Brady likely has a torn ACL just like his brother. If so we won't see him again this season either...

It was a huge difference once he left.

That was a huge post game comment just now.

Sacred Heart just helped us by beating Hurst in OT.

That does not bode well for a team that has to sweep Holy Cross ne next weekend.

Robert Morris had built momentum from a late 1st period power play that they had carried into the 2nd. The Tigers clearly struggled without him but really righted the ship in the 3rd. They outshout RMU and I thought were the better team. But one defensive lapse and a desperation shot from the point combine with a perfect/lucky tip.

It is really another crazy swing, you really felt better about the team on Friday, but with the news on Brady, you all most feel like they lost a lot of what the gain last night. Rotolo was back on his game all weekend. If he can play that way the rest of the season RIT will have a chance.

Wayne was about as blunt as I have heard him on the air both nights on officiating. Liked how he summed it up Saturday night. "I just don't know anymore". That is the real problem, even when you get the same guy again he seems to call a completely different game, sometime changing in the middle of the game. The have failed to establish a standard which was kind of the point of the point of emphasis this season...

Officiating in Atlantic Hockey the entire year has been abysmal, not many from any team league wide would argue with that statement.

Has there been a year in recent memory where this wasn't the case? Could the officiating in the AHA be any worse than other leagues or is this a simple matter of "you get what you pay for"?

Whenever we play out of conference with other ref crews there is a very noticeable improvement in the quality of refereeing. Everyone says they have the worst refs, but it's all relative.

So a question... Are the pay scales different in the other conferences and if so, do the higher paying leagues have better officiating? I hear the radio guys commenting about how some ref s are better at dropping the pick quicker but the seems to always be missed calls or bad calls, regardless of who the refs are.

Re: >>> RIT Tigers 2016-17: That was fun; let's go for three!

I'm a little hesitant to bang on the refs simply because so much of it is conformation bias--they get 99% of the calls (and non-calls) right in any given game, but we only remember the mistakes. That said, we've certainly had our fair share of clunkers too--I know Coach Lang wasn't happy with them a few nights, and I know other coaches haven't been either. But that's the nature of the beast.

Certainly sorry to hear that both Norrish boys are hurt now. It was clear how much RIT missed Chase especially their second game in Springfield, and if Brady's out too, well, take the two best players out of any lineup and things aren't going to go well. I enjoyed watching them play, from a purely hockey perspective--they're talented players. Of course, I never want to see anyone hurt, no matter whose jersey they're wearing. I hope they both have speedy recoveries.

All teams have seen enough bad calls that trends can be established and the league can and should step in to make sure that officiating is as consistent as it can be among the different crews calling these games. When I'm sitting at Tate there is sometimes a collective groan among the season ticket holders around me when the refs first skate on the ice and we see who is calling the game. We already know we are in for a night of a high amount of penalty calls and no flow to the game or a game with inconsistent calls bordering with being out of control, scrums after every play stoppage.

I do agree with kwm that RIT and I imagine other Atlantic Hockey teams see a different style of refereeing when playing OOC games with OOC refs. This can sometimes be a big disadvantage as our Atlantic teams don't know how a game is going to be called so they come out soft and timid and get dominated early or they come out hard and are in the box right away... I don't blame this on our teams I blame this on the inconsistency of refereeing in Atlantic Hockey which prevents them from playing on the edge from the start which they must do to successfully compete in OOC games.

I also agree with kwm that inconsistent refs are not isolated to Atlantic Hockey, most leagues and teams have refs that they would rather not see ref their games. Both Capital District ECAC teams (Union and RPI) lost tough games this weekend to Cornell late in the third on late penalties. Both fan bases were grumbling about the late calls in two very exciting games and of course you had the same crew refereeing those two games on Friday night in Schenectady and Saturday night in Troy.

Back to Atlantic Hockey, when fans gripe and whine that's one thing but if the coaches are absolutely flabbergasted on the calls or lack thereof that tells the paying fans something, at that point the league really needs to get involved not only to make play fair, but to make it safe. It's not an easy job and I know they will get things wrong but try to be consistent.

Thanks for the kind words about the Norrish twins, no matter what happens for the remainder of the Tigers season and post season I'm proud of the effort the freshmen D-men have put forth in trying to fill the void left by those two big pair of skates.
