I've been periodically checking the construction camera for the Polisseni center. Not a whole lot of activity since they finished driving pilings. Any scuttlebutt as to when that site might get a see a little more signs of progress?

Perhaps waiting for the weather to pour concrete ... perhaps a little more critical than a typical building due to the chiller system? Pure speculation on my part.

If they kick everyone out before the mens game, and say don't open doors until ~45minutes before puck drop, or go to a mostly reserved seat style for the game, then this problem is averted. Otherwise, I don't see why the Womens BCA game can't be Friday night, especially since there isn't a comedian anymore.

Why would they open the doors later than they do at the Ritter? Where are they going to put 2000 fans who can't get to their seats?

If the women's game was Friday night NO ONE WOULD GO. Kinda defeats the point of having a doubleheader.

I thought it was pretty clear. They would do so to prevent or minimize seat saving. Even if you waited until an hour before the event you wouldn't have a massive pile up outside of BCA.

An hour is more reasonable, but you'll still have a mass of people crammed into that lobby. At the Ritter they had to move the door-open time to more than an hour before puck drop to accommodate the early arrivers; you think the BCA is going to be any different?

If someone goes to both games, I think they deserve to be able to keep their seat through both games.

This wouldn't be a problem if they had reserve seats. Everyone can sit where they want - provided they buy the seat. Problem solved.

Because they open the doors way to early at Ritter to begin with... IMHO an hour is a reasonable amount of time to find seats, get food and do whatever else is needed. There isn't any reason to let people in before that. Now there is a somewhat large influx of people right as the doors open. They wait 15-30 min while the band/opponents warmup, then about the time the clock starts counting down an hour before puck drop people filter in at a more steady rate. /end rant

At Pegula Arena, they waited for the roof before they poured concrete for the ice surface.

This would penalize people who work Saturdays (people in the Rochester community) or people who would like to attend other Brick City events during the day on Saturday. I haven't been able to attend my old departments (ISE) golf tournament in years since I'd rather not have to rush down town afterwards and potentially get screwed out of seating.

If someone goes to both games, I think they deserve to be able to keep their seat through both games.

Ah, so you're entitled to good seats because... why?

If you have a ticket, you get seating; you're not being "screwed" out of anything. You've made your choice to prioritize good seats at the arena over a golf tournament. Life is full of choices; don't blame other people for one you've made.

It's a sold-out arena; someone's gotta sit in the nosebleed section. There's no inherent reason why determining that based on order of arrival is any less fair than determining it based on order of phone calling into the box office, or even a random draw.

At Pegula Arena, they waited for the roof before they poured concrete for the ice surface.

I'm no engineer, but I believe all the piles they drove need to be filled in with concrete, which has not happened yet. Once that is done they will be laying a massive pad over the entire area, and then actually beginning the building itself. All part of the effort to not have our new rink sink into the swamp it's built on.

Sure there is. Reserved seats allows tiered pricing (by whatever algorithm you prefer) which allows RIT to make more money for the program if the event is popular to sold-out plus levels. People who want to spend more can get better seats (all-American fair right there!)

Also reserved seating doesn't allow seriously rude people (or events which "hold entire sections") to block out large chunks of good seats from those who actually do arrive early.

The way things went at the last two BCA games makes RIT look bush league. And opening doors earlier than advertised because of a growing crowd outside only made it worse. Hence all Destler's "damage control".

As soon as you can come close to selling out the arena, it should be reserved seats (perhaps with some sections of GA for students or some other reliable way to let students "sit" together)

Actually, there is (IMO). Those of us who are no longer in our early 20's (or even younger) and now have families, jobs, etc... and just can't afford an extra two hours or more to arrive early enough to get a decent seat shouldn't be penalized because of our "station in life". As a season seat holder (with reserved seats), we should be able to select our seat for that game as well as for the Ritter games. Then just as during the season, we can arrive at the game at our liesure without the paranoia that we might not find two seats together for father and son (or daughter, wife, brother, sister, whatever). Being allotted seats of your desiring is the way most sporting events work these days. I challenge you to find too many 10,000+ seat arena events that are GA where there is any real threat of it being sold out. There are reasons for that.

Please, note that I really could care less if there are reserved seating or GA seating. I have no problem either way. I am just pointing out the inherent flaws in either system. Both could be seen as "unfair" to someone. And I do not like it when people use their own choices in life and then complain they are being penalised becuase of them.

Just to clear this up for you since you cannot seem to grasp it....I am not favoring anyone!!! I do not care if the seating is GA or reserved!!!!!!!!! Get that through your head.

I would try another way to explain my point to you but I don't think I could get you to understand even if I tried.
