>>> RIT Tigers - 2013 Offseason: The Future Looks Bright <<<

Four goalies is definitely excessive, I think even three is needless, especially when you only play twice a week.

I like 3. The women's team had 2 this year since Carley King left, and when Binnington got a concussion, they had to dress a skater as our backup goalie (although I hear she had some goal experience). It's a bit scary to be in the position in my mind.

Further research shows he did decommit from St. Lawrence (http://board.uscho.com/showthread.php?101350-St-Lawrence-Hockey&p=5552268&viewfull=1#post5552268)

I noticed that Woody Hudson, who was listed as a recruit for RIT last year, is now on St. Lawrence's commitment list.
interesting about Hudson. He did decommit from RIT, then committed to Cornell (still Cornell on his USHL page).....now St.Lawrence (on Heisenberg's site).

Since the rules require you to dress at least two goalies, three really is the minimum so that you've got a backup if someone gets hurt.

Savvy Tiger fans might remember the last Tiger skater to dress as the backup goalie. It's a great trivia question. :)

But who would leave? So far as I know Watson still has a year of school left, and Ruby has 2 and appears to be heir apparent to the starting role. That just leaves Maclean who might have been a redshirt last year (not sure if only playing 1 game allows him to qualify or not), but would only be a season away from being the definitely #2 possible #1 once Watty left..

Unless they know that this kid from Greece is going to be in a 5 year program and are just going to red shirt him this season. Still seems pretty strange to have 4 goalies, though..

Look at last years goaltending stats, RIT needs all the options they can get for next season. I do believe Ruby is the guy, but he has not completely sold me yet...

9 guys committed for next year with 3 graduating seniors and one walk off is a huge class for so few being replaced too....

Considering the on-ice performance I think some competition for roster spots is good. This is of course if all those recruits show up and all of the expected players do indeed return.

Make that 10 as Thompson is expected back.

Also would really expect Powell to be back in the BCHL next year, or if he does come to be redshirted.

We have been struck hard by injuries and have played a short bench a few times the past few years. I think a big recruiting class will be good.

That and competition for roster spots is also good...

So far, as AF has done in the past Canisius is the only team that Quinnipiac (#1 seed) has not held the lead for the entire game in the tournament. Makes you wonder what could have been again this year.
