>>> RIT Tigers - 2013 Offseason: The Future Looks Bright <<<

Re: >>> RIT Tigers - 2013 Offseason: The Future Looks Bright <<<

I saw a new recruit is up and I don't think anyone else has mentioned him.

Dustin Fostvelt from Spruce Grove in the AJHL. A 6'0", 190 lbs D-man with some decent scoring. 66gp, 11g, 29a, 54 PIM. Second in scoring on his team. Hopefully maybe he can project into a good offensive D-man.

He looks like he might be a good pickup. One of 4 finalists for AJHL defenseman of the year. 170 game career with 75 total pts (0.4pts per game). Four team mates are going DI next year (2-Penn State, 2 Mn-Duluth).

"Dustin is an elite puck moving defenseman that is able to close defensively very quickly due to his great skating ability," says Saints Head Coach and General Manager Jason McKee.

I will be rooting for both AHA teams this weekend. The better they do, the better for the AHA, the better for RIT.

I remember what a jerk Serratore looked like when he didn't show much support for RIT four years ago. We don't get enough respect from other conferences, we should at least respect each other.

Niagara highlights during the second intermission of the Minnesota-Yale game came from the Ritter.

Yup, every time they show a promo for the Niagara game, they show the same clip. Nice seeing Tiger uniforms on national TV again. Maybe next year we'll be the team they're featuring in the clip!!

Sigh. At least the weren't as bad as Minnesota.

Re: >>> RIT Tigers - 2013 Offseason: The Future Looks Bright <<<

I have never been so mad at Niagara and Canisius losing. Canisius really **** the bed.

Re: >>> RIT Tigers - 2013 Offseason: The Future Looks Bright <<<

Yeah Quinnipiac is kind of a garbage one seed, Canisius had that game won. No matter QC loses to Union or BC anyways.

I'm loving the lack of WCHA "power houses" in this tournament.

It's ironic that the only WCHA team still standing is St. Cloud, who for the longest time could not beat anyone in the NCAAs.

And that the "EZAC", as some like to call it, still have two teams alive. :D

Re: >>> RIT Tigers - 2013 Offseason: The Future Looks Bright <<<

Settle down everyone, any team (literally ANY team) can beat any other team in a best of one. Let's not forget that AIC beat Quinnipiac, after all. I don't think any of us would call them Frozen Four bound.

Two rounds of regionals does not permanently upset the balance of power in the conference world. We should not want to move to ECAC any more or less because of this.

And wait am I missing something, are people saying they want to use this as a model for post season tournament? Have you seen the attendance numbers?

No, someone asked "What 'real' DI hockey leagues play their tournament final at school sites?" Just pointing out that there are some.

Per Twitter, Michael Rotolo (of Greece) is joining the team next year.
He is a goalie - that must mean we are losing one...

seems like that 18 may have been right in that article earlier... then again sometimes college teams carry 4.

edit: interestingly eliteprospects has him shown as going to st. lawrence, did he decommit or something?

I saw that too. I found an article from over a year ago saying that he committed to St. Lawrence (http://www.ushl.com/news.php?news_id=666) so maybe he changed his mind?

I have never heard of a team carrying 4 goalies - seems excessive.

Further research shows he did decommit from St. Lawrence (http://board.uscho.com/showthread.php?101350-St-Lawrence-Hockey&p=5552268&viewfull=1#post5552268)

I noticed that Woody Hudson, who was listed as a recruit for RIT last year, is now on St. Lawrence's commitment list.

Re: >>> RIT Tigers - 2013 Offseason: The Future Looks Bright <<<

Four goalies is definitely excessive, I think even three is needless, especially when you only play twice a week.

But who would leave? So far as I know Watson still has a year of school left, and Ruby has 2 and appears to be heir apparent to the starting role. That just leaves Maclean who might have been a redshirt last year (not sure if only playing 1 game allows him to qualify or not), but would only be a season away from being the definitely #2 possible #1 once Watty left..

Unless they know that this kid from Greece is going to be in a 5 year program and are just going to red shirt him this season. Still seems pretty strange to have 4 goalies, though..
