I'm already abundantly on the record about my opinion of the quality of officiating in the league, so I'll leave it at that.

My offer is still good to proof read all your apology letters...

I keep a generic one on file with a place to fill in the blanks. Actually, the last time I had to write one was when I commented very pointedly about how the inept officiating in the RIT-Canisius game that had the big brawl led to the fight happening.

From Winters: "neither team ran the goalies again"

Spot on observation. Army received the message loud and clear, what RIT did was in retaliation to what Army did even if Army did not get whistled for it.

That's the reason this will continue to be part of the game unless it is nipped by the referees the very first time it happens in a game. When one team decides to crash the 'net to the extent of running the goalie numerous times for whatever reason, the goalie at the other end of the rink pretty much knows what's going to happen next. Can an analogy be drawn with one teams pitcher plunking a batter and then the other teams pitcher doing the same? Of course usually the second retaliating teams pitcher gets tossed...kind of like this situation, RIT ultimately paid the price with not only the penalty but having a player miss a game.

As we've all parroted, it comes down to officiating...

These CBS play by play guys are brutal...

Edit: Nevermind, the band is worse.

Edit (2-0 NU): Something about Niagara brings out the absolute worst in this team. I'm embarrassed to be in national TV right now.

Well, two periods is enough for me.

Well at least RIT made Sportscenter's top plays ... :roll eyes:

NU's shorty.

If they just gave the effort they did in the last half of third period all game... Few guys look like they are mailing it in. Definitely missed Schuler and miss Garbowsky right now...

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2013-2014 - Rocking The Ritter One Last Time <<<<<

"I thought we were tentative and poor, we played with a poor effort, and were not tough enough tonight," said head coach Wayne Wilson. "We need to toughen up and work a lot harder. Tomorrow it is pretty simple, we need to be much better to win."

Let's hope for a better effort tonight at home. While another loss doesn't mean all that much in a league where everyone is in the playoffs and the 7th seed made it to the NCAA's last year, it does firmly set in everyone's mind that this team is just an average middle of the AHA league team, which I know is disappointing to a lot of us.

I cannot wait for that magic elixir called the Polisseni Center to be opened!!!!!!! It will cure all the ills that have plagued this program since 2010! The recruiting will be awesome! The players will live up to expectations! The team will not embarrass themselves with their lackluster play on national TV! The players will learn how to play with intensity for a full 60 minutes! The coaching staff will learn how to motivate the players and put them in the best position to win! The coaches will do their game management job better!!! Wow, what a great thing this is going to be!!!!:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Seriously I have completely lost any hope for this team. Last nights game was a complete debacle for being a nationally televised game. What a great recruiting tool that was. I am fully holding Wilson responsible for this mess now. At this point these players are continuing to play poorly and its getting worse not better. He's ultimately accountable for everything that happens with this team athletically and bottom line is he's not getting it done and to be perfectly honest has not been getting it done for the past two years.

I am beginning to wonder if a complete meltdown for the rest of the season is not exactly what this program needs. Maybe then it will force Wilson and the administration to take a long hard look at themselves and the state of the program and make some tough decisions. Things must change and limping along like they have been for the past two seasons is making things worse not better. It so sad to see how far this program has fallen in such a short time. :(:(:(:(:(

I don't disagree, Matt, but what's changed in the last two years? Not the coaching lineup. Just the players.

Our players and, probably more importantly, the leagues players.

I think this RIT team would have probably been a top 3 or better team in the AHA four or five years ago. The talent up and down the league has gotten much better, and RIT hasn't been able to stay significantly above them.

I was venting about this season and last more than anything. And commenting about what I believe is a semi-delusional belief that the new arena is going to fix the programs ills.

I guess that the issue is four fold.

1. Some players didn't develop as thought or their games didn't translate into the college game.
2. Other teams are getting better and RIT is now competing with more schools for the same players.
3. The continuing inability of the team to play with intensity for 60 minutes.
4. And finally the inability of the coaching staff to adapt to the changes in the AHA.

In the face of adversity the program has not stepped up to the challenge. It's just so sad. I have gone beyond disappointment and am now in apathy mode. And I am a die hard RIT fan for over 20 years. I hope that next season things will start to turn around but I am skeptical.

If this turns out to be the case it will be interesting to watch how the institutions commitment to the men's hockey program evolves as the team settles into an average AHA team rather than a top 3 or better team. I think RIT will take steps to make this team better, to return the Tigers to a top three team again, especially if a jump to the ECAC is a stretch goal years down the road.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2013-2014 - Rocking The Ritter One Last Time <<<<<

Speaking of the ECAC, that conference has really stepped it up in the last couple years in NCAA participation and success. Competition for good players is that much tougher. Schools like Mercyhurst and Canisius for sure have used their competitive advantage of scholarships to improve their program when RIT and Air Force domimated the league. I think the bottom of this year's AHA would be no worse than a 6th place team in the AHA 3 or 4 years ago.

RIT needs to get better at finding the diamonds in the rough. It's tougher as the AHA increases the scholarship limit. They need better defensemen. Like it or not, I think it is unlikely that there will be a new goalie brought in unless one of the current group leaves. I think when healthy, we have a solid set of forwards.

Anyone know if it's possible to watch the games on DirecTV and if so, what channel?

I say sack Coach Wilson. RIT is still an up and coming team. I'm sure given the right pay check, anyone coach would jump on the RIT band wagon. RIT has everything going for it right now, just not the coaching. I love you Coach Wilson, but your time is over.
