"Rumor" has it that Garbowsky maybe done for the season with a hand injury...
I am not going to sugar coat it I am fed up with RIT and that is putting it nicely. One bad year is one thing but this is now becoming a very nightmarish pattern. Now yes, RIT had a tough schedule with a lot of road games. Yes it is early and with wins on home ice things can turn around for this team. However, given last year these excuses are little comfort for a team that frankly is so Jackal and Hyde on the ice each game that you want to que Jim Mora.
“Playoffs! Are you Kidding me Playoffs! I just hope we win another game”! ***ATTENTION USCHO BOARD ADMIN, THE INSERT VIDEO FUNCTION APPEARS TO BE BROKEN***
I think a great example of last night’s game and the season thus far was Greg Noyes performance. First shift he took a very lazy and bad angle on a break out and gave Canisius a grade A scoring chance and Ruby bailed him out. I am think this is going to be a long night. Then his next shift he comes out and makes a great pinch that lead to Schuler’s goal. In fact I thought he made both goals happen. His fed on Schuler’s second of the night was sick good. Then in the third period he made a poor decision at the line when he tried to one time a bouncing puck coming off the boards. Result an odd man break that requires Noyes to take a slashing call and the resulting power play is the game winner and the wheels come off after that. Text box definition of Jackal and Hyde.
Ruby had the same kind of night as it looked like he should have had the second Canisius goal. Fist one maybe, but looked like a seeing eye shot that found the net through traffic. Rest were all tap ins. Flashes the leather a couple of times to give RIT a chance.
RIT had Canisius on the ropes and could not finish in the second. Despite giving up a two goal lead which they have done way to much last two seasons. RIT grinded it out with Canisius and the Griffs took a couple bad penalty in a row giving RIT several power play chances including a 5 on 3. RIT produce some nice chances but failed to score missing the net on some great opportunities. The Griffs were on their heels on home ice, but you could see the frustration on the RIT players faces about their inability to finish their chance and thus a chance to finish off the Griffs.
As mention before Noyes takes a penalty as the result of a miss play at the line and the Power play leads to a goal, not long after that Perron-Fontaine makes a freshmen mistake in the attacking zone resulting in an odd man rush and goal and we are back to a script that we are all too familiar with since the start of last season.
This team was suppose to be better than last year and there was many reasons to believe it. But we see a Penalty Kill which thus far is the worst I’ve seen in my 15 seasons of RIT Hockey and a Power Play which only seems to work if Colacecchia gets a perfect one timer or Noyes makes a perfect pass, to many big time mistakes on the ice and soft goals it all adds up to no wonder this team dropped their exhibition game.
It is not pretty, I remain hopeful because of all the bad I do see just as many good plays out there so the talent is there. The mistakes just add up to losses though. And if the boys do not figure it out we are talking about a train wreck that will make the launch of ObamaCare look pretty…
