The Tigers have to score goals. I'm not sure what the problem is. What I didn't see was a lot of consistent pressure against Torf. Many shots were 1 and done and the puck was out. I don't recall a single flurry.

Mercyhurst torched Air Force tonight, including 5 on Torf in 35 minutes.

Suddenly last night's defeat is a little bit more disappointing.

Well Air Force must of left it all at the Ritter because they got smoked by Mercyhurst tonight

I just don't understand the problem... Maybe we just need that first initial win... Sometimes that's a big hurdle.

Maybe it's time to break out the black jerseys. Regardless of what the game plan will be Mercyhurst will be confident after their big win over AF.

Don't look now but RIT will not be catching their breath anytime soon with 5 very difficult games coming up. Although there is no need to press the panic button yet. RIT has played very formidable opponents so far. I think once RIT gets their first win, watch out AHA. Also lucky us, we have only played one conference game so far!

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2013-2014 - Rocking The Ritter One Last Time <<<<<

Very even game Friday night from where I was sitting. Didn't get a good look at the first AF goal on the 3-on-2, but the second PP goal was not stuffed "between the pads", as was stated on the radio after the game. It came from down low, about 8-feet out. The AF player just shot it under Ruby, who was not close to guarding the post, and it appeared to go off the far blocker, and in. Wish I could've seen a replay. The difference in the game, IMO, is that Torf didn't make that mistake.

Dan Schuler just plain makes things happen. I thought the freshman defensive pairing did well.

Traditionally slow-starting RIT plays a majority of games on the road at the beginning of the season, with a huge home-stand beginning the middle of January. I'd say not the kind of schedule that fits well, unless the ship is righted quickly.

Someone listed the reasons that Serratore is a good coach. I assume that means that AF is a well-coached team. Is RIT a well-coached team?

It got deflected off a defenders stick into Ruby's pads, at which point he accidentally kicked it in.

Is RIT a well-coached team?

It's hard to say, since we've had talent that just doesn't seem to execute. Especially in the D end. Is it poor coaching? Poor drafting? Who knows, but RITs reign over the AHA is long gone.

"I knew they could come back because they are well-coached and they didn't play that bad in the first period," legendary coach Red Berenson said.

Based on what Serratore had to say I'd actually find it less discouraging:

"Mercyhurst is a very good team," coach Frank Serratore said. "We expended a ton of energy last night at RIT and tonight we were reacting.

So they get worked up to play RIT. They just like to play us for some reason, and always perform at a top level in those games. Seriously, have they ever turned in a bad performance when playing the Tigers?

Victims of our own success, I suppose.

Tigers picked up another D recruit, this time Matthew Abt from the AJHL Whitecourt Wolverines. The 6'3" 180lb 20yr old (7/25/93) has been in the AJHL for 4 seasons and is wearing an A for Whitecourt this year. He hasn't scored a lot of points (4g36a-40pts over 157 games) until this year (0g-15a-15pts over 14 games). While scoring may not have been his strong point, he has been prolific on the panalty minutes side with 404 PIM over his 157 game career. Heck he's got 57 PIM in his 14 games this year. Maybe he's the "convict/enforcer" they've been missing since McReynolds graduated.

This bring the Tigers to 5 recruits (2F-3D) for next year.

Who wouldn't want to disappoint the biggest fan base in the AHA? Year. After. Year. *sobs*

Speaking of the fan base, I thought the Corner Crew was terrible Friday night. They weren't even close to being loud, the group of students that sits across the ice from the band were way louder and way more involved. When that section started chants the Corner Crew flat out refused to join in. Really? Just because they didn't start it? The Corner Crew didn't even seem to be paying attention half the time, missed several opportunities, I thought, to get the crowd going and even more chances to go after Torf. The team is down by 2 goals, but still playing hard trying to get back in it, and the corner crew couldn't even muster a "Let's Go Tigers" chant. It was down right embarrassing and they didn't deserve to be saluted by the team after the game. It's time to start performing up to level that they claim to be at.

I'm not sure where to place the blame for this terrible performance by the Corner Crew. Maybe it's bad recruiting? Maybe it's coaching? Maybe it's leadership? Maybe it's lack of effort? Maybe they're just taking shifts off? Maybe their just a bunch of clowns? I don't know what's going on, but I'm pushing the panic button on this one. Something needs to change and change quick.

Ah yes, the Corner Crew. The neutered student section. If the administration didn't tell them what to do I doubt they would be able to find their seats. Jesus, have some fun and support your team. Start cursing some more. Say dirty things about Torf. Do SOMETHING.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2013-2014 - Rocking The Ritter One Last Time <<<<<

This team seems to have lost it's swagger' and at this point one has to wonder if things will indeed get worst than last year before they get better. Heck at this point we just hope to see a win. Fatherhood stuck me watching the game from home Friday and only thing more ignoring than the game was the TV Guys excuses on tough schedule. Well its the new AHA and its what we came to DI for, to play tougher teams and to win. I've seen the same little mistakes on the ice too often the since the start of last year. Coach Wilson sounds like a broken record in each post game so unless he forgetting to give the same speech in the room (Which actually the message should be a bit more blunt) I think it's clear the message is not getting through to some players.

I will offer this, I don't dislike McGowan, Garbowsky, and Schuler I just don't see the talent compare to top lines of years pass. They have played 4 games together and scored 1 goal. If they don't start finding the back of the net, and I mean soon then its time to try someone else. Our top defenseman is a -3. We can feel sorry and say how tough it is, and yes it's not easy. If you want to win your top dogs need to produce.

Flying to Rochester to play a game and then taking a bus to Erie is a tall order. Little Birdie told me that Air Force fired a few bombs towards the league for scheduling that... All in all I would be happy if I was Air Force on what they did in their first 4 conference games. Winning gives you the luxury of just shrugging off a poor game on a difficult road trip...

And the R-I-T, R-I-T chant immediately after we get scored on is ridiculous. It makes no sense. At least wait until after the faceoff to start that chant.

Do I hear a panic button being hit? ;)

Seriously I agree with you Tom. I haven’t seen the AF game yet as it was not on TV in my area (rerun on Tuesday night where I plan to watch) but the bottom line is that everyone else in the AHA is getting better and for various reasons RIT is not keeping pace.

And as someone who watches quite a few RIT games on TV, I personally think that the TV guys need to go. Especially the gravelly voiced guy (I don’t bother to learn names). He adds nothing to the broadcast.

FWIW...Red Berenson also said that RIT's goals during the Tigers' upset of Michigan in 2012 were all lucky, implying that RIT didn't deserve to win.
